  1. My sister has been married to her husband for 26 years .... 2 children now grown up and fled the nest, they have a house share not a relationship... they like each other but don't love each other .... She dreams of passion, cycling around the world and having a girlfriend, he wants motorbike adventures over the hill and far away ... but despite us replying to their questions about what they should do they keep running round the same hamster wheel ... We say to each of them ... be honest ... or run away .. but the cycle of low level unhappiness goes on and on .... Making the move is the hardest thing .... buts its down hill from there ....
  2. Good point, well made ..
  3. Married at 20 divorced at 32 ... Happiness ever since ... and my ex, and Julies ex ... all happy because we did the "wrong" thing .. Actually i feel sorry for the fish ....
  4. So many men seem to marry women they are not actually attracted too .. so it seems.. Man A .. likes wobbly bits .. so marries intelligent, resourceful stick insect and spends the rest of his life giving furtive looks to her sister with the wobbly bits. Man B .. is the opposite ... you get the picture ... What happens in Yorkshire is that every weekend, every puddle is surrounded by men with fishing rods that hate fishing, but are too scared to ask for a divorce and spend their lives miserable in the rain beating the same fish on the head week after week. Their wives are in B&M comfort shopping, dreaming of Lars the Strong, who, frankly, is not going to ride in on a white charger or black Harley and whisk them away for dirty sex and fun on a cruise ship. Choices choices .... how many on here, male, female, undecided or baffled have found real happiness the 2nd time around ?? Me .. the girl with the wobbly bits and the slightly prominent teeth ... (us 30 years ago) ... What about you lot ??? OH .. and to keep it on topic, she cooks an amazing Christmas Dinner .....
  5. Well ... do you like a good Western ... This series from Disney .. A Starwars Story sort of thing, is well worth a watch. Picking up on many classic Westerns, High Noon, Magnificent Seven ( 7 Samurai )and many more, this is a different approach to story telling. OK .. theres only "7 stories" but this tells them all well in many episodes. Different directors for most episodes and cameo's at both acting and directing by the director of Jo Jo Rabbit make it a well worth watch.. Give it a go ... pitched at all ages it's a worthwhile programme ...
  6. From our experience it will end up as EU case number 476,998 and they have only got to case 197,426 ... yours will be held in July 2189 .... ... I have an IPR case with the EU after i am dead !! But it did allow a "Cease and Desist" order to be brought ... which has worked so far ...

  16. Bikesure ...... made one claim .... they appointed a risk assessor .... I insured a GSXR-1100 ... I made the mistake of claiming after a bad smash .. the reg docs said GSXR - 1100M .... which was correct .... They refused payment as i had mis-represented the item to be insured, GSXR-1100 was the only choice on their web site .... all attempts to appeal where overturned .... I went to the Ombudsman and they payed out immediately ... Wide berth i'd say .... Swinton ... not the cheapest but easy to deal with and a genuine comprehensive policy
  17. I had a collision with a Volvo 240 some years ago. Head on at about 30mph. I remember instinctively pushing hard off the footpegs and handle bars, rotating through the air, my helmet hitting the windscreen with a glancing blow, smashing it, then landing behind the car rolling head over heels, then rolling full length along the road ... I was bruised and battered but not injured. But i don't remember the next bit ... The police where there quite quickly, the accident happened near the main entrance to RAF Honnington. Apparently i was shouting and screaming at the driver, who had locked himself in the car , and kicking the sh1t out of ever panel on the body of the car ...... Ambulance from the RAF base turned up and carried me off ..... Concussed .... The front wheel of my bike was alongside the engine and the forks snapped .... so lucky me....
  18. I've never been aware of counter steering ... but very aware of vanishing points on corners .... I suppose what ever keeps you alive, safe and keeps those around alive works ...
  19. We have a mad but very happy life ..... But counter steering ... no, it's just riding ....
  20. Well you did ask .... We where walking through Rotherham one evening, in a door way was an obviously drunk woman, equally obviously very pregnant... we took her home, cleaned her up, contacted SS the next day, made a home for her in her last trimester. She had a mad history of alcohol and drug abuse, including 1 previous child in care and a cot death. So we cared for her, she had her baby, and at 11 days old Jules and I brought home Riley.... Mum had supervised contact, at a contact centre, for an hour every day. I packed in work and we raised a baby ... Social Services refused to class us as foster parents so we carried the financial side .. Then on a Friday in July, the Police knocked at our door and handed our 3 grandchildren to us. Our daughter is a 20 year + heroin and cocaine user .... The children are in our care via a court order .... Riley is with his forever family but his mummy has stage 4 cancer so he comes to us every Friday morning to Sunday evening ... And i'm back at work full time ... This was not how we planned our later life ...... BUT .... we have lots of regrets but love all 4 of OUR children and love, cuddle and care for them... There ends War and Peace .... sorry ....
  21. I live for my family and my motorcycle .... My cycling will keep me alive longer to enjoy both .... good answer, well prepared.
  22. There fine... we did the Coast to Coast, Whitehaven to Tynemouth over 3 days earlier this year in between lockdowns ...
  23. I'm stood behind Julie and Riley in his pram ...
  24. 3 of the riders didn't finish, Ken (72) and with prostrate cancer crashed out in Bridgewater, John (68) collapsed in the toilets near Lancaster, Chris ... had a family issue and had to leave us .... Van 1 ... Hattie a 32 year old crappy camper van was home to me, Julie and Riley. Van 2 ..Cally and Steve had fitted out an old van to sleep in .... Linda and Kev had a small van with an awning they had made to sleep in .... the rest slept in tents .... Day 11 was my 60th birthday .... I spent it with my wife, Riley, and my cycling brothers and sisters .... after a 67 mile day ... it was amazing, such a memory.
