Thanks mate. But what I was looking for is the way to find that tyre using the same website i showed before. I plan on ordering them both from the same place at the same time if possible.

I have just been looking at my bike for the tyre size so I can buy some Michelin Pilot Sportys. The front tyre on my Yamaha YBR 2010 says.... 2.75 - 18 42p And the rear tyre says... 90 / 90 18 52p Now i understand and have found my rear tyre on the website... .blackcircles.com/bikes But I have no idea where to find my front tyre, can anyone help me out with this? So far it looks like i can buy them for about £42 each tyre. As for getting them fitted... anyone got any advice for me there? I got a quote from my local yamaha dealer for a set of pilot sportys supplied and fitted... they wanted just shy of £160 So if I can get the tyres myself for less than 100... i just need to get them fitted properly... but cheaply. I am convinced it will cost less in total than £160.

The stock tyres on the one I bought, 59 plate,WERE chinese tyres and they are a very Hard nylon type compound which I could not get on with at all ....The bike would twitch a lot on any shiney surface patch in the road and would follow the smallest ruts in the road . So although the tyres only had 1500 miles on them I changed for the Michelins And it was like a diferent bike when I picked it up ! I would say if you are a new rider or born again rider and will be using the bike to take your test then it is well worth the money getting sportys put on for the improved road holding and smoother ride you get in return. The tyres are the most important part of a bike IMO How are the sportys in the wet?

well thats just it, i dont know any different haha i am sure if i ever go on a bigger bike with better breaks i will then go back to the YBR and think "WHY ISNT IT SLOWING DOWNNN" i really need to force myself to ride more. im still finding the fear hard to deal with.

I dont know what year the YBR you have experience with is... but the breaks on mine seem to be fine for what i have needed out of them, The headlight on mine is sorted with a halogen bulb, cheap easy fix at £14. Starting? it starts up soon as my finger grazes the button, and warms up very quickly / moves off straight away.

This post is strictly for information purposes only. I am just wondering how secure are steering locks on most bikes and how do pieces of scum wanting to knick a bike break them / get past the steering locks. Ive just been thinking about this... most bikes have steering locks, so I am guessing when somebody leaves their bike (unchained to a solid object that cant be moved), they use the steering lock which cant be much of a problem / deterrent for robbers as the bikes do get knicked. So how is it done? How do the locks work? Can you think of any other ways to secure your bike if you cant chain it to something / or have an alarm etc... I am talking about quick trips to the shop or families homes.

Well Yamahas are japanese. As for where the stock tyres come from, I have no idea. If your bike is new (as is mine), then the tyres are 10x better than on the older model Yamaha YBRs, but still the michelin pilot sporty upgrade is still suppose to be the best.

I tend to get the nod even with L plates. Does your YBR have after market tyres? Because my YBR is japanese not chinese.

I have just noticed rust on the chain of my bike. As some of u may be aware its been sat for months in the garage.... but it was at the dealers for like 5 weeks and im guessing they left it outside at some point, who knows. Is there a way I can save the chain? What are the effects of a rusty chain on a bike? How expensive are chains? Are they easy to fit or would i have to chuck away more money having it fitted? PS: Already reading the great post about chain care.

Ive had one since november and have done a 1000 miles on it (had like 4 months off due to a crash tho). Heres my view... Its fast enough. Its a commuter bike... its cheap to run and very reliable. I am about 16 stone and i have had no problem getting to 65 on it. Sometimes more. It pulls away nicely, you wont be holding up traffic unless people want to go above 60mph in which case you might be.... Halogen bulb makes the light 10x better and you can get it done with change from 20 quid maybe even 15. As for tyres, ive used mine in all kinds of weather and conditions and to be honest i was fine, you just have to ride to the conditions, dont push your luck, falling off hurts. I am considering the upgrade to michelin pilot sportys but ive been quoted 150 quid which is a lot of money.

As a kid i was never interested in motogp, F1 was more attractive to me. BUT Since i started reading motorcycle newspapers and learning about the sport and have since followed it and watched this season so far i have just fallen in love with the sport. I think they are all mental but brilliant. Its so action packed compared to F1, i love it. So i advise any biker who has not tried motogp to give it a go. You will love watching the races. You never know what is going to happen, its great.

How come? Will check out the trowsers Just what I read on another forum. In an accident they can act as a guillotine and cut your toes off. Ive seen an episode of mythbusters on discovery channel. It is a myth. Plus even if it was possible, the force required to make it happen I think your toes would be the least of your worries.

Ive been trying to get back into my bike since I got her back from the repair shop after my spill last year. My arm is sort of healed now... it still hurts when under pressure so if i have another off i am going to be in a hell of a lot of pain, probably more than originally. I still dont trust my bike or my ability. Its only a poor little YBR 125 with diddy tyres. Anyway back to the original reason im posting this. I have struggled finding trowsers that fit me to ride on the bike. Since i got the bike ive been riding around in tracksuit bottoms. Ive come to the conclusion i was really lucky with my fall. I came off at 40 - 45, smashed into the road and rolled instead of sliding. I was wearing the thinest pair of tracksuit bottoms ever, some metal toe cap work boots, a textile padded jacket, some winter frank thomas gloves and of course my lid. All I had was grazed knees (ever so slightly), a totally f**ked up left arm (first thing to hit the floor), but other than that i was fine. My jacket tore but as far as i am concerned it did as it was supposed to, my gloves and jacket stopped my skin from been ripped to shreds. Anyway I am just starting to get how lucky i was that my legs and arse were not ripped to shreds. I need to buy some trowsers, that will give me proper protection. Something i can use winter and summer. I dont earn a lot of money but i need something that will do the job. So far in my search i have found it hard to get something that fits. I am 5'9 and a bit broad, in normal trowsers i wear size XL... but in biker trowsers i couldnt even get XXL to fit me. PLEASE help me I am so scared of having another off, i really wanna make sure if it happens i am left without the need for skin grafts and having bits of tarmar surgically removed from my arse cheeks.

I want to give my bike a decent clean this weekend but I am trying to compile a list of what I need. The bike has only ever been cleaned twice... last time probably at the start of november (but its only done about 100 miles maybe 150 since its last clean), but my point is a lot of the muck has been on there for a long time. The chain will want lubing too but I have no idea what to buy or how to do it properly. I dont want to damage anything. Can anyone recomend any products or give me any tips?

Is the book "learn to ride" still worth it? Does it cover most of the bases for what you need for your mod 2 test? I might buy it... Ive passed the theory test. So just mod1 and mod2 (and i know the book was published before mod1 and 2 were brought in). But the basics of riding on the road must still be the same with a few additions like independent riding.

Exactly my point and frustrations. Maybe they could use it like the touch screen? I mean the multiple choice part is all touch screen so why not invest and incorporate the technology into the hazard perception part. Some would argue it is faster for you to register your reaction by clicking... but other than that i cant think of any objections. Anyway, i passed, woop woop

I have not touched my bike since the weekend when bullet came round and rescued me when my pump broke (and at the same time as the pump breaking, it let my front tyre down to 14 psi lol). But yes, i think the back is on about 32 right now, front at 25. Ive read the tyre wall and it says "MAX LOAD 500LBS at 40PSI" Basically im gonna go to the garage at some point and pump the back one up to about 35 psi. As for new tyres, i got a quote yesterday for some pilot sportys (suppose to be the best tyres for small bikes)... but your looking at 150 quid fitted. I could maybe get them for about 125 if i sourced them myself then had them fitted somewhere else. Still a lot of money tho, which i dont have right now

I was really worried about the hazard perception part of it. I only ever did about 4 mock tests... past the first one... JUST, passed second one... JUST, failed the third, then learnt a new approach from my girlfriend, and blitzed the 4th, but was still pretty worried. Now to prepare for mod 1 And my car theory test lol. I just took a mock car theory test, i passed but only by a few %. I got about 7 wrong. So i still need to work on the car stuff.
