Hi all, I have just bought this http://i408.photobucket.com/albums/pp169/stevetrina/bikes001.jpg too do up a little over the winter and to use when i pass my mod 2 .have done a few bits to it but noticed today after fitting new handlebars that if i grip the front wheel with my legs and pull on the bars that the front wheel moves and stays of center advice desperately needed please .steve

  5. a bit more than that mate ,i live near lingfield racecourse
  6. thanks for the offer mate may well take you up on it in the near future .as i said i only want to do my mod 2 on it and then it'll go into the garage until the spring .i have got a replacement for it ,an old (30 yrs) Honda superdream 250n.i wanted one about 34 years ago when i bought my first bike,ok it has taken me rather a long tine but i got there in the end .I'm pulling it apart at the moment not to restore it but just to give it a refurb and bloody good clean so as I'm not a mechanic i will probably be asking lots of silly questions over the winter .ill put some snaps on so you can all have a good laugh
  7. well thanks all the other thing is whats the 5th gear for down hills only i would think as soon as i put it in 5th it starts to slow down on anything other that a dead flat road and even then over 40 has no acceleration ,so i tend to ride it in 4th.the thing is i want to do my mod 2 before Christmas so i will want to sell it on in the spring so i want it to run as well as poss for its new owner.its in very good condition just the lack of speed that lets it down .was thinking at 13 1/2 stone i was a little to heavy for it
  8. its a 04 with 17,000 on the clock
  9. hi all ,i have a 125 Honda I'm 6 foot tall and I'm about 13 1/2 stone all i can get out of my little bike is 50 mph,55 with a strong wind behind me .so the question is .should it go faster than this ?
  10. hi .you have to do a min of 48 kph for both the emergency stop and swerve test .but they want 50 kph
  11. after 3 practice sessions on my own at a local factory estate using half tennis balls as cones. next stage lessons for mod 2 .i love this bike thing
  12. hi all ,can somebody give me the measurements of the cones used in the mod 1 test (i don't mean how tall they are but the distances between them).I'm practicing on roads and car parks on a factory estate using half tennis balls as cones .i know the distance for the slalom and fig 8 but not the avoidance part.i have evnings this week and next weekend then the test on tuesday.thanks, steve
  13. hi i did my CBT and bought a 125 ,i have been riding it for a few months to and from work most days (about 12 mls each way) and realize for me doing a course wouldn't have been the right thing to do .i feel that I'm getting more confident almost with every ride i have my mod 1 in a few weeks which i have practiced for on my own in car parks and the like but as for mod 2 i will have lessons .i consider getting a 125 the right thing too do jumping on a 500 with only a 5 day course under my belt would of been (for me )a very bad move .oh and I'm not 17 I'm 52 and have been driving for 32 years ,you cant bye experience no matter how much money you spend 5 days may get you through a test but it ain't going to make you a biker.all the best mate ,be safe.steve
  14. OK i know this is a thick question but I'm going to ask anyway .i don't have to take it again do i.my theory run out November next year and i WILL have my license before then.
  15. i take it Lynn didn't pass ,thats a shame.I'm going to do my mod 1 in 3 weeks and I'm doing it on my 125 .OK i will have to put up with a 33bhp bike for two years when i pass mod 2 but it seems very much the cheaper option .if i fail i only loose the test fee and when i pass i can sell the 125 probably get most of my money back and ether get a restricted bike or a 33bhp one .I'm hoping that with practice in car parks and the like and watching vids on youtube i pass mod 1 ,i realize i will need lessons to make sure I'm ready for mod 2 just hope i don't need too many.still i have got 15 months until my CBT runs out so I'm hoping that i will pass mod one this side of winter and that Will give me next year to pass mod 2 .
  16. hi all ,made a bobo about 3 weeks ago .i went onto the official DSA web site to book my mod 1 and did just that then read on here that the test cost £15 (i payed £25) well decided to cancel the test as i didn't feel too confident and couldn't find the test center so i used the conformation e/mail that i got and was told that my £15 would be refunded in the same way as it was paid .didn't get a refund so i called the DSA and was told that the £15 had been refunded i then asked why they were refunding £15 when i had paid £25.he then told me that i had been tricked and said that i must have booked using a pop up and these company automatically appear just as you start to book your test and after you have told them the date you want they book a test then tell you when its booked for ,they pay £15 to DSA and keep £10 .well as i said i canceled so the £15 was refunded back the the pop up and now its down to me to get a refund from the company that i paid .the DSA said its not elegal as they did book me a test but they will be breaking the law if they dong give me back my £25.but lets be honest can i really be bothered to go to the small claims court for £25 .i think when i book the test again ill do it over the phone.and if i can track down the company in question ill put there name on here .Steve
  17. if your cbt runs out before you pass mod 2 does it mean you have to do theory / mod 1 and cbt before you can do mod 2 .as i see it with out your cbt you cant ride a bike on the road so ultimately if your cbt runs out do you have to go back to square one and start again ?
  18. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Croydon+CR0+5EF&hl=en&ll=51.369557,-0.049095&spn=0.004494,0.01074&sll=50.965306,-0.125849&sspn=0.004534,0.01074&t=h&z=17 Thats where I work in Croydon. It's a concrete jungle.... a few miles further north! And with all those golf courses surrounding us, we hardly ever get to see views... or trees... Anyway, the VOSA site in Croydon is closed till furtehr notice, and I searched Burgess Hill and can't find your MPTC - William Way doesn't seem to exist you see what i mean then golf courses full of people spoiling the view
