  1. Yeah...the argument about the chain being off the floor is valid if the thief is using bolt croppers.....but if he's got a cordless angle grinder it won't matter much. Not trying to scare you.....just pointing out just how devious some of these low-life scum are.... Have a look on the Almax site as they have vids of various chains being cropped.....shocking how quickly some of them are cut.....but the Almax chains stand up pretty well to these attacks....
  2. Most security devices are a detterrent......a determined thief will take your bike no matter what security you have.....but the point is to not make it easy for them.... Almax chains are super strong.....so a decent ground anchor and one of their chains is probably the best deterrent around.....
  3. I'm sure someone on here had an Excel spreadsheet with a macro that you could put your target clearance, measured clearance and the shim sizes you already have fitted and it would juggle them and then give you a list of the shims you needed......can't remember who it was now..... Yeah...the shims and buckets can wear....which will open the clearances.....so they don't always close.... Your clearances could have been set on the tight side by the previous owner .....
  4. Hmmmm.....not sure yet Martin as it's Triumph day at the Ace Cafe on Sunday. Will let you know when we decide what we're doing mate.....
  5. Check both wheel bearings and steering head bearings too...... What are you measuring the tyre pressure with? ....maybe it's reading high, causing you to under inflate the tyres. Are the tyres fitted correctly.....ie, running in the right direction? Even though the front tyre has tread left on it the tread may be worn on the shoulders more....giving the tyre more of a V profile.....which can cause the bike to drop into low speed turns.....
  6. I think you're getting the wrong end of the stick mate...... £119 for jeans with no armour, £149.99 for jeans including cheaper armour and £169.99 for jeans including Pro armour. You could call them to confirm, but my Hood jeans with armour were about £120 a few years back.....so they won't have doubled or more in that time....
  7. I aim for midway.....coz you never know which way they're gonna go once they're set.....
  8. Nice one mate......but sooner you than me......

    Brake pads?

Looks like an anti-squeel shim......some pads come with them and some don't. My current pads have them coz I swapped them over when I changed the pads. When you say about the right hand and left hand pads are you talking about the R/H and L/H calipers or the pads within the calipers?
  11. Unfortunately (well...not for us) we're away on hols then.....so won't be able to make it.......
  12. Yep....it's looking real nice.....good work mate.....
  13. I'm sure my Hood jeans with armour weren't anywhere near £300..... £149.99 for K7 jeans with the cheaper hip and knee armour....£169.99 with the Pro armour.....not sure where you got the £300 from....unless you were including the jacket too?
  14. Sounds like the clutch is dragging a bit....
  15. Great to see you guys too..... Gotta do Downham Market in the not-too-distant future too......
  16. Well......where are the pics?....

    new tyre choice

Depends what you want from the tyre....grip v longevity.... I've got Pilot Road 3's on my Speedie......grip is good....and they still look like new after approx 3000 miles.... Dunno if you can get them in that size though....
  18. My tank is plastic..... Agree with the guys.....sounds like the tank is trapping or pulling some wiring somewhere.....possibly even shorting some wiring.....tank off and a good look round required I think.....
  19. Bad luck mate.....hopefully it'll be 2nd time lucky for you both..... It's great having someone to share your passion for bikes with.....
  20. Does the R have adjustable suspension? if so, as has been said, you may just need it setting up for you and your riding style.....
  21. Shake Your Money Maker - Elmore James
  22. Run, Run, Run - Jo Jo Gunn
  23. Congrats on the pass mate......happy days. ....
  24. An unrestricted 50cc bike should be no probs if you're 17 with a current CBT....but you should tell your insurer that it's been derestricted....just to be on the safe side.... I very much doubt it will do more than 40-45mph....although the speedo will probably show 70+....
  25. Good luck with it mate.....should make a nice project.....
