  1. Heard a lot of bad stuff about mod 1 and 2 from guys sitting them at shieldhall glasgow, I’d thought I’d add my experience after recently doing both there. mod 1 was last Wednesday morning on the pad with ‘Stevie’ he couldn’t have made me more relaxed. He was chatting away before we went in and basically talked me through the full exam. ‘Mind your safety checks before you move off’ he would say before each exercise, guy was spot on. passed with no dramas. mod 2 was yesterday morning 0820 right in the middle of rush hour!!! il be honest I was bricking it!! I was hoping to get ‘Stevie’ again but he was on annual leave. my examiner this time was a young chap, I’m sorry I forget his name but it might have been Phil? Really nice guy with a cockney accent. He has only been at shieldhall for two or three months my instructor told me afterwards, Once again he put me at ease right away as I told him I was rather nervous. show me tell me went fine, couple of brake check questions then pillion passenger questions. Quick radio check then onto the bikes, he told me I was to do my independent ride as soon as we left the complex, I was to head for Renfrew then paisley. Via the dreaded braehead roundabouts!! (il give you a quick run down of my route, don’t know the road names but people in that area will know where I am might help any future mod 2 riders?) Traffic was unusually light which I was surprised with but got through there without any dramas. Onwards towards Renfrew, first left at the big roundabout towards paisley, through the housing estate there, twenties plenty flashing sign wasent flashing so carried on at 30 mph. Continued on by the M8, primary school on the right with the permanent 20mph, dropped to 20 in plenty of time, First left at the mini roundabout towards paisley road, I did my first stop and start here. From there onto paisley road. Into the quieter streets for more stop starts, hill start and unmarked crossing etc. again no dramas. From there we headed to Arkilson? roundabout, up by the David loydd centre, up to 60 mph, took a right at the end of the road, continued till the next mini roundabout then for those who know the straight then left at the double mini roundabouts. Can be tricky, be careful. No more manoeuvres after that, just a ride back towards the test centre via cardonald and the Clyde tunnel under pass. On arrival back at the test centre we parked up, he then called me over towards his bike, as he was getting his iPad out and with his best poker face he said to me ‘well that’s a first’ I was standing there like a scalded schoolboy fearing the worse!! he then said I was his first ‘clean sheet’ mod 2!! Wooohoooo!! I was buzzing!!! point I’m making guys is don’t believe the crap you read on line about shieldhall test centre, the guys are brand new, there bigger bikers than most people, even choosing a career in that biking field.. my advice for anyone sitting there, especially mod 2 is get used to the roads in and around the test centre, unfortunately I think the high fail rate at shieldhall is people getting confused with the amount of different driving situations you are involved in driving from shieldhall, it’s practically the city centre.. very busy at times. in my opinion though it makes you a better rider as you have experienced all these different driving conditions.. good luck guys!!!
  2. Any make any model, as long as it’s learner friendly and running.. Anything considered, preferably with a MOT. tiger..
  3. Good afternoon, I’m new to the forum so forgive me if this has been covered. I’m currently riding a 125 bike on a CBT, I’ve finally decided to do my mod 2, ( mod 1 completed last year) my nearest test centre is the dreaded shieldhall Glasgow. Has anyone got any idea of the routes there using these days? it seems there low pass mark is due to the amount of different roads, speeds etc in the area they use, so having an idea where you are going too or coming from would definitely help? Tiger..
