  1. I'll certainly let you know and we can arrange to pop round for tea or you can join us at the pub Thanks for the route suggestion, I did look at going through dartmoor and now I think we will Luckily were flexible on route and can probably take a totally diff route back.
  2. Thanks the more input the better, its prob gonna be next month tbf so the weather should be better (with any luck). I'll check out the Towans area and see whats what
  3. Im going to take a ride down from Northampton to Redruth in the next few weeks prob travel through Oxford to Stonehenge (lunch stop) then onto Redruth. Anyone know of a good/cheap campsite? 2 bikes, 2 tents (so far) for 2 nights. Within walking distance of a pub (for food of course). http://g.co/maps/bx2q3
  4. 12hr shift tonight and 14hr shift Sunday night so unfortunately i'll be giving it a miss
  5. Ive lost my usual riding sidekick for this weekend so if anyones planning some time on the road near northampton let me know, ive got work at night so I need to be back for 1630. Otherwise im easy going. Even if its only a potter around or a visit to a bike shop. PM me or my no's in the contacts section Or let me know of any bike events on that might be worth a look locally, ty.
  6. Good luck mate, you wont need it. Just do what comes naturally and enjoy the ride out
  7. Sorry thought I said, its the NON Exup 400. Does seem to be running rich, again not so much now its done a few miles.
  8. My mate recently bought one, 86' in red good condition and it passed the MOT 12hrs after he bought it without so much as a drop of chain lube So far he's changed the oil and fuel (only did 500miles in past 5yrs) and replaced the air filter, he plans on having the carbs sonically cleaned and the plugs done at the same time. Thought I would ask in the meantime about the prob it has.... When cold it idles well np once hot it just drops off and stalls, opinions? Also from 3rd gear and above it hesitates and around 6K rpm sometimes momentarily other times its a little extended this seems to be improving with use. Im thinking plugs and or HT leads for both probs? Its all gonna get done just wondered if anyone has any input at all? Thankyou
  9. We ended up giving it a miss Didnt sound too enticing tbh and a oil leak and oil change on my mates bike kept us occupied, once that was done we just toured the local B roads Lots of bike groups around Northampton this aft though.
  10. Awesome stuff I think I'll suggest a "ride by" rather than parting with money straight out, see how it looks. Would have been nice to meet some more people. I'll prob be out riding around today instead, if you see me anywhere gimmie a nod or say hi (Green ER5, matt black lid).
  11. Oh, not what I wanted to hear. I just arranged with my mate to head down in the morning. Hmmm might not bother then really at £12! Why doesn't Northampton have a local biker place where it doesnt cost £12 to stop for a chat

    99' ER-5 parts/repairs

No, just the cheapest suitable semi synth 10/40 I could find though. I did think it would only be run for a bit with this in and then change for better oil soon kind of an extra flush if you like I think I might make do with the cosmetic damage on the clock rear as the cost of a replacement set is silly Headlight bracket needs a tweak but otherwise its ok now as well. The starter issue was a bad connection and all good now, just needed further inspection Battery is tip top too now. I'll check the collector box and manifold soon too, ty

Cheers, Its cheapo semi synthetic. lol. Well Ive just done a couple of hours in the dry and its much better Its still a 12yr old ER5 but its running happier and is actually a bit quicker more so at higher speeds gets there easier and cruises much more comfortably. No clutch issues at any rev range or gear so far so good

Well the plugs came today and I got stuck in, firstly changed the oil/filter and flushed. Changed the spark plugs. Flushed and refilled the coolant. Also fitted a new air filter yesterday and that made a huge difference! Ive added a few pics so you can see how badly this needed doing, lol. Im not convinced the oil will be ok as its cheapo 10/40 which may cause some clutch slippage but I'll find out when the rain stops. It was all very easy to do and not as messy as I expected. lol. The oil was as black as tar and the coolant a lovely rust brown http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp77/m6aok/Biking/42e68d21-643c-4959-9b58-6020f5b8b639.jpg http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp77/m6aok/Biking/59bf6053-5771-493e-a10d-b0ae9a193d79.jpg http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp77/m6aok/Biking/f29a3f8a-4475-4ada-bba5-3a2ac0d90eb1.jpg http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp77/m6aok/Biking/7b844577-e489-46ad-9459-06e8a2289766.jpg http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp77/m6aok/Biking/7fb86275-0b0f-452d-95ea-d37a8851749a.jpg http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp77/m6aok/Biking/df53c58a-0215-4483-b534-24e60ccd8c23.jpg
