  1. Er5 was my first big bike. Loved it and regretted selling it. Nice to ride, easy to work on, great for city riding and not too tiring on the motorway either. Never had the brake or carb problems. Side stand was a little too short and had the bike topple over it a couple of times when loaded with luggage on the back. Single front disc brake was a bit weedy and the rear drum wasn't much better.

Lol it's an odd choice I know. Wrong time of year to be buying a doer upper bike as they're all ridiculously expensive. The AJS was cheap, local, only had 1900 miles on it, had been garaged so no rust and only needed wiring loom repairs and a new cdi. Was going to flip it but I'm starting to like the little thing. It's fun through heavy traffic and goes round corners like it's on rails, even with the original shining sun tyres on it lol.
  3. Stripped of bodywork, Harris pipe, moto x handlebars, big round headlamp and all of it sprayed matt black. Loud, quick and scary looking when it appeared in your wing mirror. Had car drivers getting out of my way everywhere . Comfy to ride and a lot of fun but I never trusted the handling enough to really get it over even with diablo tyres on it. Only sold it when the starter sprocket was on it's way out (massive job to repair). Would I buy another? Definitely
  4. Australian farm bike version of the DT125. When I had it, it was the only one on uk roads. Bought as a stripped frame and two crates of parts. Had been stripped to restore but then left in a shed for years. Loud, brilliant 2t sound, comfy to ride (with taller than standard rear shocks), easy to chuck it through heavy traffic. One oddity was all the gears are up and neutral is at the bottom. Made it easier to ride with wellies on apparently . First gear was incredibly short too so farmers could view crops at walking pace on it. Would I have another? Tbh the chances of finding another one are near zero
  5. Great little bike for everyday use. Super reliable, engine like a sewing machine that happily redlined in every gear. Handling not great but predictable. Comfy and practical commuter bike, though they're classics now.
  6. Owned for a couple of years. It had been sat under a plastic sheet in a garden for five years and I bought it as a resto. Put fresh petrol in and a battery on it and rode it home . Other than a new chain and tyres, a respray in Rothmans colours and a little fettling it didnt need very much at all. Fanstastically over-engineered bike that was durable, comfortable to ride, had effortless power, predictable handling and could be pushed hard through bends. Would definitely buy another.

Back on a bike after a fair few years of four wheels and have broken my own rule of never buying a Chinese bike. Bought a 2k mls 2017 AJS TN250. Only 17 of them in the UK and 9 of those are already SORN'd even though the model is only seven years old lol. Parts scarce, AJS Ltd useless for most things tn250. I'm hoping I can find info on alternative parts that will fit as things WILL fail on it. Fitzi
