  1. So I've been using a Garmin Zumo XT for the last 2 years and although I like it there's been some updates of late that seem to have had some stange routing quirks. Several people myself included are getting some weird U-turn behaviour and routing anomalies which can't be explained away purely by user error. Anyway, I often use my phone on a QuadLock mount so I can use Waze/Google Maps and also MyRouteApp and on my last tour I found MRA to be more reliable at staying on the route than the XT did which got me thinking, then stumbled across an app called DriveModeDashboard 2 by a company called Thork Racing, which although geared towards offroad riding made me wonder if a tablet would be a better solution. I couldn't justify the cost of their tablet especially as I didn't know if I'd like it so I opted for something middle of the road, which was a Galaxy Tab Active 3 in a powered pogo pin RAM mount. Anyway, I'm extremely pleased with it so far as it's proven excellent, but I'm yet to test it in extreme rain or heat so time will tell obviously. I did an install video if anyone is interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2B97hQC2uw
  2. Anyone from here there? Was there with a load of mates off another forum. Don't have too much in the way of pics, the pics from the photographer onsite weren't bad, he missed me getting my knees down lol Have to say the day wasn't looking great, the weather looked shocking but we did get 4 clear sessions during the day, and we had the Archie Scott Brown suite all to ourselves. Anyways, this is some of his pics, it's clear I've been off a bike for a long time, body positioning all over the place : http://www.pjitsolutions.co.uk/pics/share/mesnett1.jpg http://www.pjitsolutions.co.uk/pics/share/mesnett2.jpg Took this of the tyre at the end, great wear pattern which proves 2 things, one is that the suspension is ok and two, I need to get on the power earlier, and harder haha http://www.pjitsolutions.co.uk/pics/share/snettreartyre.jpg One of my bike (and yes thats me in the naff Superman tshirt) : http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b246/markclark101/NinjaFest_2012/Ninjafest2012-13.jpg Ok, some footage, but please bear in mind the following things (yes here come the piss poor excuses) lol 1. I haven't been on a bike for nearly 3 years up till 3 months ago. 2. I haven't been on track for just over 3 years. 3. I've never done the Snetterton 300 circuit and it's not the easiest to master, as I found out with messing up all the late apexes. 4. I had serious brake issues all day, unfortunately the brakes kept boiling and going spongy so I couldn't risk braking too hard. 2 people on the day told me that it's cause the R1 has GG rated pads which get too hot and that it's a common complaint? I usually run HH pads so I can't comment myself. Braking was fine till they got hot, no air, and we changed the fluid too. Biggest problems I found getting used to the circuit were that I didn't have anyone to tag onto and show me the ropes so I was kinda making it up as I went, hence the wildly off lines I had, combined with the tall gearing of the R1 which I hated on the track it made for an interesting day. To be fair I nearly didn't make it there at all so I can't complain. On the plus side, on the time I managed to get out on track I only got passed once Be gentle with me : ">
  3. I could be up for this, would be starting out near Warrington if I do
  4. The GoPro Hero is definately waterproof down to 60m but it's not cheap. I've just bought the Hero 2 and messed about mounting it on the bike, the quality is awesome considering. Bought a 32Gb SD card which will take 4h at 1080p but the battery will probably last 2h 30m. Unfortunately it doesn't do looped recording, not that I'm aware of and you can't run it off the battery while it's in it's protective housing. Personally for me it's the perfect option.
  5. Peejay1977 - Forza 4 mainly but do have MW3 and BF3

    Disk Pads?

EBC are great..........as long as they are to, anything short of that and they are crap. OEM pads for me, even on the track.
  7. I'm with Tango, buy some new stuff rather than always wonder if it's ok or not.
  8. Depends what you'd call active mate? I haven't ridden in 2 years so I'm definitely not active at the mo haha
  9. I live Donny, although I haven't been since the recent changes.
  10. Hi Graham, welcome to the forum, am new myself. Once I get a bike sorted (sore subject) I'd be up for this. I ride at a fair pace, but am very respectful of the roads and others so don't expect Rossi-esque riding prowess from me haha Paul
  11. Hi mate, I've done about 30 trackdays so hopefully I know a reasonable amount lol Leathers - Makes no odds whether you use 1 or 2 piece, if you use a 2 piece they MUST be zip together or they won't let you out on track. Spares - Never taken any myself, crashing can happen, depends on you, and the others on track so it's hard to say. Extra tuition - If it seems good value for money then why not, do it. I've always found the instructors at most trackdays to be helpful and well worth speaking to, although most trackday organisers don't charge extra, but it may be that they give really full on tuition. Oulton Park is a great circuit, when are you doing it? I assume your riding over? Take a reel of gaffer tape with you and tape up the indicator lenses and lights, if you do bin it it'll keep everything fairly held together. If you can manage a small tool kit then it might be better to take off the mirrors as you won't need them. Don't look at the speedo while your on track, trust me it will distract you, best to stick some tape over it as its all too easy to want to glance down and see how fast you're going. Other than that, drink plenty, make sure you eat something, but not too heavy and just enjoy the day, its an awesome feeling! Paul.
  12. I really wouldn't worry, that sounds normal to me.
  13. How much are we talking about? Fuel vapours can sometimes condense in the air box, I used to get it on both my old GSXR and my old ZX6R, both ran perfectly.
  14. If its a 4 bolt then it's possible it's an early K series exhaust as think these bolt "sort of" straight on. It's probably from a K1/2/3 600 but plenty will fit.
