dantheman779 Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Hi guys The alternator belt on mt ZXR750 H2 has started to squeal when cold as I turn the lights on,anyone know which bolts to loosen so I can adjust it?Thanks in advanceDan Quote
dantheman779 Posted October 30, 2009 Author Posted October 30, 2009 What? Early ZXR750's have a belt driven alternator (generator) and the belt on mine needs tensioning,I was wondering if anyone on here knew how to adjust it as when the bike is running the belt squeals when the headlights are switched on for the first couple of miles,so it needs adjusting.Dan Quote

Guest Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 could be more adjustment with (B) as theres elongated holes on the brackets too, but © reminds me of the adjustment on my car, so most obvious..hope you get sorted, a squealing Kwak isn't a good thing... Quote
Colin the Bear Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 I thought it was a wind up. You live and learn. Never come across a belt driven alternator on a bike. Can't tell from the diagram what type of belt it is however a lot of belts squeal due to xs wear. Probably a good idea to replace it if adjusting it doesn't sort the problem. Remember to not put too much tension on the belt as this can cause premature bearing failure. Quote
Guest Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Me too Colin, i put BELT??? then went to CMS for a pic, and lo and behold a belt, couldn't believe it, looks like a PITA to replace though... Quote
