Guest Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Hi all, my bike seems to start fine and run fine for 5-10 mins then seems to choke itself between 2000 and 7000 revs when pulling out of a corner, or setting of from a junction. runs fine cruiseing at 60mph but then wants to choke at the lower revs again. Although it will tick over ok anytime. only seems to be when the bike is warm and on a cold morning. Tried some fresh fuel and draining the carb. Anybody able to help????? Quote
Colin the Bear Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 It's not carb icing is it? Does the Vara have a carb heater that's packed up? Have a look in your manual. Quote
Guest Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 I had a look through the manual and can't find anything in there. It does have a carb heater and this seems to be getting hot water to the carb. Is there any way that the water could be getting to the carb and not doing its job. trapped air or something????? the bike had sat idle for while before i got it, could it need flushing out???? Quote
rennie Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 it does sound like carb icing!i've never heard of a 125 doing it before but it's possible. Quote
Ashaman Jay Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 it does sound like carb icing!i've never heard of a 125 doing it before but it's possible. Had it a couple of time on my marauder but only when it dropped below 0 degC.No issues on my Varadero so far. Mines not carbed tho. Quote
Guest Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 thankx for the help guys. I'll have to get some cotton wool wrapped around it to keep it warm. Does anybody think that covering over the radiator partly would help so that the water was warmer and the carb heater working better??????? Quote
Colin the Bear Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 I'm sure there's a baby vara forum. Think it's part of the honda owners club forum. Might be better asking on there. More experience of the model. Quote
