Guest Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 HI all, Does an end can have to have the BSAU Mark for an MOT, or does it just have to be below what the tester deems acceptable, I know that if i have a "NOT FOR ROAD USE" then even with a baffle fitted it will fail. but without the mark and a baffle fitted??before i spend an age polishing it out, so i know to remove it come MOT time.. Guest Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 My old Preditor can had no markings on it and passed three MOT's,it's testers discretion matey Quote
Guest Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 cool, can continue polishing out the markings, it will have a baffle, as i get on with my neighbours, but finding a road legal can on egay is expensive so got a brand spanker ART can for £30, with baffle comes in at £45, inc p&p...still have my Quill (BSAU Marked,) which is being shortened.. gotta do something whilst nearby outside is flooded.... Examine the condition of the whole exhaust system including the silencers and mountings, for security, deterioration and completeness.2. With the engine running assess the effectiveness of the silencer in reducing as far as is reasonable the noise caused by the exhaust from the engine.3. check the silencer(s) on all machines for unacceptable markings 1.a. Any part of the exhaust system missing or excessively deterioratedb. A leak in an exhaust system which causes excessive noise to be emittedc. An exhaust system mounting missing or one which is in such a condition that it does not fully support the exhaust system.2. A silencer which is in such a condition or is of such a type that the noise emitted is clearly in excess of that which would be produced by a similar machine fitted with a standard silencer in average condition.3. A silencer marked 'NOT FOR ROAD USE', TRACK USE ONLY' or similar words. http://www.motuk.co.uk/mcmanual_710.htm Quote

I would worry about polishing out chrome Bonnie silencers. Looks like I will be wielding the spanner when the time comes. Quote
