Guest Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Hi guys, i have a specific question on track days but i don't want to open a new topic for it so i thought i'd ask here.I am planning to maybe go to England for a year or so, but with my motorcycle addiction and all i cant afford to be to far away from a racetrack.I now live in the Netherlands and the closest track here is 104km from my home thats about 65miles (TT assen), this race track has allot of track days and even some cup's to join for motorcycles. Can anyone tell me how much race tracks are around London where you can ride with your motorcycle, and how many miles the closest one is to London.I heard of Silverstone and thats pretty close i guess, but i am not sure if that has track days for motorcycles.Hope you guys can help me out a bit Quote
Guest Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Hey, it deserves its own thread!!Someone will be along to help you soon.... i know of Silverstone and Thruxton down there... Quote
Guest Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Ok thanks for opening one for me then , i come from a forum where new topics are outlawed.I have another question to add to this since it became a new topic, i heard on a dutch motorcycle forum that England's rural roads are great for motorcycle driving (preferably quite fast). Are these nice roads all across England (specifically around London),or are we looking at the northern side of England closer to Scotland?I assume that north england is more filled with hills and such? Guest philgale Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 brands hatch isnt too far away, depending which side of london rockinham wont be too bad.just to add to what vicki has already said.as for roads in england, dont bother riding fast. too many cameras around. Quote
Guest Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Well... the people in the north will tell you their countryside is the best..... and teh people in the south will tell you theirs is best!!In my opinion, stuff working in London, come up to Yorkshire/Lincolnshire and track at Cadwell Park Quote
Netmeister Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 In and around london wont be great for good riding roads. Just stay away from any city or big town and you will find plenty of great riding roads. As for a tracks, he's a little map I've knocked up of tracks that do track days. Quote
Guest Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Sorry for my late reaction guys i had a busy period . Well... the people in the north will tell you their countryside is the best..... and teh people in the south will tell you theirs is best!!In my opinion, stuff working in London, come up to Yorkshire/Lincolnshire and track at Cadwell Park That might be a good idea .I am kind of conflicted. On one side i like a big city such as London because of jobs and the easy ways to meet people, but when i see clips and photos of the Yorkshire country side it looks stunning .City's like Leeds and York seem nice, and there still big (way bigger then iam used to).Is that country side good to drive on with a motorcycle (race bike)?is the stunning terrain close to Leeds or am i looking in the wrong spot?Cadwell park is about 2 hours drive from Leeds which is a bit of a drive but its not that bad.I know iam drifting off from the track day subject, i hope thats ok. Guest philgale Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 cadwell is worth the drive, its about 2 and half hours away from me and iv done it 4 times this year i think...well be doing it about the same next year money allowing croft wont be too far from leeds/york i dont think, and oulton and anglesey will be doable from there and mallory and rockingham may be ok straight down the m1....
