Oh noes! Urgent help needed, to do with chains...

Well, basically i cam to tighten my chain today (noticed it was getting a little slack). Took out the stopper pin thingy, undid the nut, so the wheel could move..

Then started to tight the bolt at the end of the swingarm, y'know the chain tightener thing. Anyway, this thing broke;

I'm imaging, somehow over the years rust has played a part.. But i cant find the spare parts :S And i really need the bike running fine by thursday!

I thought just tightening the spindle would be fine for now, but i REALLY don't wanna risk it. I don't know what i could use as a stopper for now, maybe a couple of 2p coins with holes drilled through the middle? lol...

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, CobbZ

as a temp fix you could find a peice of flat bar i would say atleast 3mm thick cut it slightly bigger then the size of the swingarm drill hole in the center remove all that crap and replace with the flat bar!!

and if your really clever and have use of a welder you could weld some locating points on it too :D

If you aint got the tools or the noddle to fabreecate one (no offense intended)

Take the good one to a local sheet metal working shop and ask them to make another

Shouldn't be too expensive and relatively easy for them as they will likley have a scrap bin with something that will fit the bill. :wink:

P.S. If ya can make one they might let you have a piece from the scrap bin :wink:

Yeah, thats what i was thinking. I'm sure i'd be able to buy a drill bit good enough for the hole, but i don't think i have anything to cut the metal :( I'll have a look around now, see what the crack is :)

Shit, theres a thought, how am i gonna get to the shop! lol. Bike is my only form of transport, even the bloody pushbike is missing a pedal, has been for years...

Reckon it'll be safe without the chain tensioners?

If you ride it without one of the tensioners, make sure the one that is fitted is on the side that carry's the sprocket and don't nail it.

I'm sure most breakers would have these in stock, if not try searching for "motorcycle breaker macclesfield", I think they have them in stock.

Oh noes :( I just rang them up, saw on their website they did actually break up a GPX500 recently, but they said they sold it completely :(
