Any advice to remove properly the tank stickers??

Hello,

Ok, it sounds stupid but since I bought my bike, I did not dare removing the stickers on the tank... I am not sure which product I should use to make sure that it is not going to damage the tank paint :(

Any idea/solution will be more than welcome!

Thanks in advance.

put a sponge in hot water then put it over the stickers you want to take off they should come off thats what i did with my bike, once off i use wd40 to get the sticky cap off

I was wondering about this the other day too, I really hate the warning stickers on the tank that tell you not to ride under the influence of drink or drugs, and always wear the correct safety gear. On a black bike the yellow and white stickers look terrible. Only problem is they are a plasticy type material so I dont think hot soapy water will remove them!

only reason i said to put a sponge in hot water and use that is to warm up the sticker so it would make it easier to remover, with no risk, you could use a hair dryer but you got to be very carefull!!

I'm sure someone will put me right, but I have heard that you have use petrol to remove the sticky residue?? But The warmer you can get the sticker the cleaner it will come off!

I did not check the exact time it took but I have a strong feeling it took me over 1h30 to remove these 2 stickers... One was tiny a round petrol sign and the other one was a larger rectangle...

The hot water on a sponge did not do much to warm up the stickers :( I had to use my nails and then moved on to a Credit Card which I was "wiggling" very gently to remove mm by mm this sticker. I then cleaned up the residue with WD40. I did not do a single scratch on my paint so I am happy but should I have known how tricky it was, I may not have done it today... Anyway that's done, I'm happy with it but that was way more difficult/tidious task than I expected.

Thanks

de icer works well to get the stickers off, in the first place, the spray kills the glue, works just as well on car glass to get dealer stickers off too...

My son used stuff called "sticky stuff remover" I think, on his car and I used it on chrome on the bike and it worked OK, possibly get it in car spares shops
