My exhaust has rusted badly (well only surface rust, but a LOT of it)

I got most of it off and put some exhaust paint on it which has now peeled because the rust is flaking, Is there anything I can put on it that would sort of cure it? (like hammerite, which I was going to use untill lukly at the last minute I remembered how hot the exhaust gets lol) And apparently there is spme other stuff that will kind of turn rust back to metal, ut doesnt. I cant think how it was explained, like "it turns the rust back to metal ut it isnt as strong" or something.

Anyway do you know anything suitable for exhausts? and I dont want to manually get the rust off because it took me 2 days to get half of it off and I dont have a sand blaster :(

Any ideas?

Sorry if this post makes no sense, I kind of wrote things down as they came to mind.

Maybe not the ideal, but I clean up the area as best I can, then coat it in Kurerust, let it dry, then paint with high temp paint.

yep, Kurust changes the properties of the rust, so coat with that, then apply high temp engine paint, but you will need to do it regularly on the downpipe..

I used Kurust on my collector box, extended it;s life by another 2 years, make sure you brush off as much of the old rusty surface as you can, apply 3 coats of kurust allowing each coat to dry,I used PJ1 on my collector
