Guest Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Hi I'm having real trouble shifting my oil drain plug, (bikes an XV125 if that makes any difference). Been looking at different tips on the internet and its occurred to me that perspective matters. I've been turning the bolt anti clockwise sat on the ground facing the drain bolt, but some places mention it being upside down or something. So can anybody tell me with clarity if I'm doing this right before I have to take it to a garage and get laughed out of the place for turning it the wrong way! Quote
Lumor_uk Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Don't know, but pop to Halfords for a breaker bar. The longer the better but gets more expensive the longer you go. Check the socket size matches your tool set, else you might need to pick up a socket adapter too.If it is turning the wrong way you'll see it move with a breaker bar then stop, then just turn it the other way http://www.machinemart.co.uk/images/library/product/medium/04/040210077.jpg? Guest Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 make sure you are undoing it and not tightening it, as its an alloy sump and will suffer...maybe get someone to hold the bike, with the brake on so you can give it more ooopmf... Quote
