Gear rental?

Morning campers, quick Q.

Basicly, me and a mate want to do a few short breaks away on the bike, round nice bits of england maybe ireland for a few days. Thing is she's all up for being pillion but she hasn't got any gear and us being students neither of us have much cash. I just wondered if there's anywhere you can hire gear from? Or might it be better to just buy it, use it for a few trips and selll it for as near as damn it what we paid for it?

She should buy her own helmet!

If you buy right and get some bargains

you should be able to sell for near enough

what you paid.

are you insured for pillion use, might be best to check.. and agree with Rennie, get her, her own lid, for safety and if she gets into it..

you may want to do some shorter local pillion runs, just to get used to each other and how the bike handles..

Yeah I've got pillion insurance and a decent helmet that fits her properly is a must.

1 piece leather suits are probably a bit overkilll, just looking for basic textile gear

A bit off topic but you did say Ireland, prices over there are over the moon at the moment & with the price of the ferry as well,,,,

might be worth extending England into Scotland,,,,, Just a thought

Thinking about it, hire centres would be quite a good idea - then people can try out different gear & see what's most comfortable before digging too far in their wallets. As long as nothing got damaged anyway.

Have you had a look on fleabay? Some people are funny about wearing 2nd hand clothing so you can pick up some used stuff pretty cheap off there, especially if you're not bothered about brand names etc. As others have said, buy a new helmet though.
