Guest Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Hi all, hopefully someone can help,Im asking on behalf of my dad who has just rebuilt the engine on his Gpz500, its an M reg. He had the head reskimmed, we put it all back together fine, filled it with oil, then the we filled it with water, however it took some water but then it started leaking out from 2 small holes, 1 on either side of the cylinder block, now im assuming there is supposed to be something in these holes, (core plugs or similar?) they are pretty small holes between the fins on the block, we think something may of come out while it was at the shop been re-skimmed? Can anyone shed some light on what should be in the holes and where we could get some? Thanks in advance.Lee Quote
Guest Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 any pics?try looking at cms to see what you are looking for.. http://www.cmsnl.com/kawasaki-1996-d3-e ... partslist/ Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 they sound more like natural drain holes and the problem is more like the one of the hoses around the top of the engine hasnt sealed or the head gasket was not fitted correctly Quote
Guest Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 some bikes have drain holes for the plugs, to drain rainwater from around the plug area, like the GSXF and GSF.. this may be the same with the GPZ... did you spill coolant whilst filling?otherwise i think it's a badly fitted gasket and you'll need to look further, you are using new gaskets? Guest Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 just been on google and came up with -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i have a er5 i usually flush the crap out at the spark plug bottom with a hose ,try a little degreaser first if it is oily or greasy!!there is a drain hole fitted which exits on side of cylinder head! works fine for me Quote
