Issues with Yamaha YBR 125 - 07 Reg - 1st MOT due 21st Aug

Hello Hello,

I've been riding my Yamaha YBR 125 (07) for over a year now and have noticed a change in the steering.

It appears to be more loose than normal and when I brake it feels as though I'm going to fly over the handlebars!

Any suggestions?

I also have an issue with the engine, after long journeys the bottom of the engine starts to smoke, could this be oil burning?

I thought it was an issue with my exhaust as I spotted a hole - but then I saw that most YBR's have a 'Breather' under the exhaust - DOH.

Any help would be great as I'm a girl and don't have a clue about fixing bikes.

2 days after I wrote this message in the welcome forum I came off my bike due to the 'light steering', what would you suggest I do? Wait until my MOT is due and ask the dealer to fix it?

Does anyone know of a good Yamaha dealer in London? I'm fed up of getting ripped off! GeoMoto's charged me £170 for a new chain on my bike.... complete cons!

Thanks again :)

:stupid:

Ahh jeeze sorry to hear that mate

i'd suggest either take a look your self with a haynes or get it in to the place you bought it, its probably out of warranty aswell ?

Id have said a few days ago get it looked at- seems like you've now suffered the consequences! :( Hope you & the bike are alright??

Additionally, id suggest you get the dealers to pick it up if you cannot get the tools/knowledge to at least temporarily fix it your self, dont want another off!!

that is, considering a chain and sprocket kit costs £40 for your bike.... (wemoto.com)

if it is out of warranty, then use a non-franchised workshop, ask around with other bikers, and smaller shops tend to have a better customer attitude, as its word of mouth and repeat business that keeps them going..

as for the light steering,.. look at tyre pressures, and fork seals.

as for the smoking, give the bottom of the engine a good clean and have a check of the area after a ride.. hopefully you'll spot anything amiss.

Yeah, I let the tyres down and had the fork oil/seals changed almost 4 weeks ago as the front forks were bouncing everywhere!

I got the bike from Sloombes in Willesden, I think I'll have to take it back to there!

Thanks Guys :)
