Guest Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Hmm.... looks like I need to buy a helmet...I'm planning on buying a Honda CBF125, and sticking with it But the helmet I saw in the shop the other day is made by Harley... and has Harley written across it (though not too obviously.... it's large but kinda feint). Is it frowned upon - or even laughable(?) - to have a Harley helmet while riding a tiny (and non-Harley) bike??? your opinions would be very much appreciated!!!thanks, Electp.s. in case you're wondering... the nearest bike shop is a Harley one, and they are very friendly and helpful so I want to buy it from there as a thankyou Quote
Mightycaz Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Nothin wrong with having a harley helmet, My mrs is looking at a set of leathers for going pillion and she likes the Yamaha R series ones, even though I ride an XJ......... Quote

Guest Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Thanks guys. I didn't look at it closely enough to see if it were a decal It's all black though, and now I'm thinking maybe that's not such a safe colour... there was a silver one which would be more reflective, and I think it might be okay in terms of branding .The colour might be more important too, seeing as I'll be a learner (L plates ) after doing my CBT on Monday.yikes...hope I pass okay....! Otherwise this will be in vain...Much appreciated!Elect Quote
Ingah Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 I'd be far more likely to frown if it was all the protection you were planning to wear. Your skin and bones demand more than just a helmet.Does it fit well? (tight but not painfully so)Because if it does, it's the helmet for you. If it doesn't, it will not protect you as well as you think. Quote
mealexme Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 you can get skins (although they are not very good), so if you want that helmet but dont like the looks then .motovationracing.com/ skullskins.net/ etc, just make sure the visor isnt covered. Quote

Maybe I'll have to find another shop nearby, or order from the 'net (perhaps from .sportsbikeshop.co.uk ??). Though I wanted to check out the stitching according to the sticky-thread about clothing I found on this neat forum.Summer motorcycle clothing: http://tiny.cc/zmeskWinter motorcycle clothing: http://tiny.cc/hxy2x(couldn't resist ) Quote
Mightycaz Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 if not want a good deal on gear then set a max budget, go to a shop and buy it all in the same place. In most cases view will do you a bit of discount because you are buying in bulk and In the hope you will go there in the future! also, go in a week or 2 before you need to buy it and get chatty with the staff, i did that and am on first name terms with most of em now which gets me a 10% discount on most things.... Thanks Caz, sounds like a sensible idea. I've just found a place nearby (looks like a small independent shop), so I will try visiting there.http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/place?cid ... jAfy_vmbAQBTW, I noticed (from your Twitter page) you seem to work for Panasonic and have a decent 3D display-system in your 'shop'(?) Can you tell me where I can visit it or a similar one - because I work with virtual reality systems, and wouldn't mind a look at this new (related) stuff. VR and TV/Computer-screens are closer than one might think...Thanks again to all who replied.cheers, Elect Quote
Mightycaz Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Yeah, we have a pretty good set up here, I would tell you where your closest one is but I don't know where abouts you are. Go to .panasonic.co.uk/html/en_GB/Dealers/All+Dealers/220395/index.html#anker_221332 and enter your post code. Any Panasonic Store will have a 3D display, the others are hit and miss as there was a stock shortage for a while.... Quote
