Edgey Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 So I'm back posting about this failure of a bike.Long story short, it was working absolutely fine for a few months until cobbz persuaded me that pressure-washing it would be fine, later that day it was a bit on-and-off as far as starting was concerned (needed bump starting twice but the rest of the time starter button decided to work). Now it's just not having any of it, haven't tried bump starting it yet but I assume that would work. I don't know if the pressure washer affected it or it's something else, but I don't think it did any good, silly Taiwanese bike.Basically it's not starting, electrics seem fine, electric starter button attempts to start it but nothing happens apart from draining my battery.I have checked the spark plug gap which is fine (0.6mm) and there didn't appear to be any water in/around there.would basically like a list of common things to check if possible as I have all day tomorrow to have a go on it, I did want to work on it through the evening tonight but there is too little light and today seems to be the day my garage bulb wanted to give up.Could really do without this at the moment as I want to do mod1/mod2 as soon as possible now weather has cleared and I'm on top of uni work (for the moment), but with no bike I might have to be looking at hiring one or something. At least I have learn't my lesson about dubious mechanics with my 125 rather than a future 'big' bike... don't buy them. Thanks all. Quote
megawatt Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 I could type out a massive list of theings to check, but I would prefer to talk you through it. I will PM my number and you can bell me for a chat up to 2100 hrs. Good luck, Alan. Quote
Edgey Posted February 5, 2011 Author Posted February 5, 2011 Fixed the bike!Turned out there was water in some places it really shouldn't have been, resolved by a fan heater.Of course all help was provided by the font of knowledge, formerly known as megawatt. I also agree with his statements about Chinese bikes. They are essentially... shit. Now to see if I can find anywhere in Manchester who do this 1 week course to do mod 1 and mod 2... Apparently it's like DAS but for A2 licence. Quote

Edgey Posted February 5, 2011 Author Posted February 5, 2011 Agreed. Diagnosed my bike's failures and listed what to check to fix them. Not only do I now have a working bike but more mechanical knowledge. Quote
uktriggersm50 Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 for mod1,2 if you can get to leigh I'd recomend russ at school of motorcycling. did mod1 training sunday before my 17th, test on birthday on his bike £60 and mod2 in evenings before test, 3 hour blocks £60 only gives training he thinks you need (use of bike if needed for test - free)dont know if his prices are still the same Quote
