Hello peeps! New here, I just booked a 6 day DAS course, I start around a month from now, I have absolutely no riding experience at all, when I booked it, the lady on the phone said to wear some sturdy/proper footwear, from my understanding and memory they supply the rest right? In that case since I only have trainers or posh fancy shoes for clubbing etc, neither of which I'd assume are appropriate, I thought I'd just buy myself a proper pair of motorbike boots and then when I eventually pass I can use them on my own bike! I'm 6"4 and with that comes above average shoes...I'm 10-11 (probably nearer 11), my budget is around £75-100 max, I know that people will recommend that I try stuff on as comfort/fit is important, but can you please point me into some reputable brands that do boots for this budget?

Thanks in advance! :D

Yeah, Spada do a great pair of boots, absolutely brilliant for £89.99 called the Spada ST-1.

To be honest, you really do need to go in a shop and try a few on, because two boots in the same size can, and WILL, be completely different. Try not to push for racing boots as a lot of people do... Because you'll need something comfortable for full days of riding and standing around (DAS) :)

Some racing boots are beautifully comfy, but the comfy ones tend to be £160+.

Thanks for the fast reply guys, I'm going to try go down to a shop to try some on next week, there's a place down here called 'Suzuki Saltire' which from what I've heard does bike gear :)...the Alpines seem nice but are only doable if I did second hand and I'd rather buy new gear for my first gearing up. Those Spada's look great too! How do I know if boots are racing boots or not please CobbZ? :D

The staff in bike shops tend to be damned helpful compared to everywhere else. If you explain your needs and what you don't want, they can generally help you.

You can tell race boots from a mile off, they are the ones with thefancy colours and shiny bits of plastic with go faster stripes

Not much help I know lol. Have a gander at some sites like

hein-gericke.co.uk

~(soz drinking and can't think of others  google will help)

get yourself along to the Scottish Bike Show at the Ingleston showground next month. I got most of my gear there last year, saved a fair few pennies! :D

In the meantime you could also have a look in Two Wheels in Edinburgh, there is also a Heine Gericke in the 'burgh, J&S in Hamilton is a bit further but they have a pretty big selection.

Sorry for the late reply, thanks for all the advice guys! I went to a bike store today and tried a few pairs on, going to get the Spada ST1's, tried on the 47's, were a touch too big, he only had the 45's so I'm going to order 46's online :)

I brought some Aplinestars SMX plus boots from ebay last night for £100 only worn twice.

But before I did, I went into J&S and tried some on. Highly reccomened that you try on first. :)
