Went through a puddle (slowly) about a mile back and then the bike just stuttered and stopped. Currently at the side of the road! Help pleeeeeeease lol

I don't know of anything you could do at the roadside, how deep was the water? could it have gotten into your carbs(if it has them) or entered the exhaust?

home now lol, would appear i am a bit of a tool!

it had run out of petrol just outside the petrol station, but had gone onto the reserve tank (am used to driving a car so didnt realise there was a switch).

battery isnt the best, so going to give it a charge, as we jump started it off a land rover, and after about 30 seconds and switching the tap to the right place it fired into life lol

thanks for the help!

lmao I've done that before, except I was travelling at 60 on a fast moving carriageway with cars behind me, it stuttered and I realised I had run out of petrol, so had to switch to reserve while still moving o_0

this was on reserve for some reason, but i now know so i can make it run lol

only problem i have now is finding out if the reserve tank auto fills or if there is a switch or sommat lol

On mine the reserve and main tank are the same physically, with the main tank feeding off fuel at a higher point than the reserve, the reserve then feeding off at the bottom

Posted

ok, mine is probably the same then lol, so need to figure this out lol, but then effectively could leave it on reserve all the time and just run it, but i dont think i will as i will want some warning and some ability to get to a fuel station lmao

The fuel tap has a tube that goes about 3" into the tank for main tank supply. The reserve bit is below the tube and will eventually empty the tank. Set your trip meter at zero when you fill the tank right up and look what the mileage is when it starts to cough and you need to put it on reserve. The reserve tank will probably get you another 20 to 50 miles till the tank is totally empty, but you don't want to confirm this as it will probably happen at the worst place and time and the crap in the bottom of the tank will end up blocking the carb jets. Only ever run onto reserve when you know you are near a fual station. Note the main tank range and try not to go on reserve.ONLY EVER RUN THE TANK ON MAIN, ONLY USE RESERVE TO GET YOU TO THE PETROL STATION.!!!

Fuel starvation? might have crap in your carbs

Nope!

Sorted now thanks to a mate, we found a broken wire in the loom that goes under the tank, so joined together and it works better than before!

Me fuse holder needs replacing though by the battery as its corroded to hell!!
