Guest Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 I'm in need of some new boots. Which I find hard to find! My current boots are some Spada Wave boots size 13, which were great, served me well through two very tough winters, but now theres a hole in the sole, some stitching has come off, one zip tag has broken e.t.c..I'm looking for something comfy, that has plenty of room for my calves... Lol. I have fairly large calf muscles, probably through carrying my fat arse around all day, and this can cause a problem with boots. Especially if I want to tuck the pants in.I saw a while ago someone on her, akey i think, bought some quad bike boots or something which had ratchet straps rather than zips, which sounds great to me!!Anyone got any suggestions? Guest Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 What about motoX style they have rachet straps and good protection! Quote

Hoody Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 I have posted on here before regards Alt-Bergs. Made to measure. Excellent kit, full after sales service including refurbishment (resoling, panel replacement, re lining etc) Quote
Guest Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Defo looks good... but safe for motorcycling? I don't think they've been built with crashing a motorbike in mind. They do look like a truly amazing company though! Will give it some thought if i can get an idea of prices. Quote
Hoody Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Used by most police forces in the country, acheive the higher levels of CE protection, ultra comfortable and fully waterproof. Quote
Guest Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 I'll certainly bear that in mind xD I just read a telegraph article on them stating it takes approx. 3 months to take delivery? Quote
Hoody Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Manchester to Richmond isn't too far and they have some sizes on stock.I have known them take far less time than that though.http://www.altberg.co.uk/Web/motorcycle.jsp Quote

jacol Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Cobbz, John from Mercury was recommending me Alt-Bergs as well. He said they cost him as much as his TCX Infinity, but lasted 5 years instead of 6 months, with replacing the sole once during those 5 years. Quote
bullet5 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Now boothy,When we next meet up...You WILL be flattened.I'm joining team bullet! Whoo, thankyou Cobbz. Come to the dark side, you know you want to. - On a side note, i'd be happy to hear where this thread goes as my father needs some real biking boots. He's currently using some of these workers boots, but they offer no ankle or leg support/saftey. Thankyou. Quote
Guest philgale Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 i use A* supertech r boots, got enough room for my massive legs and leathers, crash very well been off in mine at least 4 times now, 2 crashed sliding down the track at about 80mph and they stood up amazingly well. well worth the £300 matehttp://www.thebikerstore.co.uk/product_images/n/365/SUPERTECH_R_BLACK__74945_zoom.jpgnext on my list is the daytona security evo 3 but there mega money, about £800 but if you get the chance to try a pair of the evo sport version (about £500) trust me you will not want another boot ever againhttp://www.infinitymotorcycles.com/images/products/medium/3SecurityEvoIIIRedpair.jpg Quote
Boothy Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Oxtar Thats a good point I have some of those and they are really good with a wide calf.Boothy Quote
Remy Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Wouldn't boots with velcro straps be more flexible? I've got a pair of these daytona boots and they have a big gusset behind the straps Quote

Don't get me wrong, those Astars are bloody gorgeous, but wouldn't suit me. Quote
Guest philgale Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 No worries cobbz, just those A* are the only boot that have fitted my legs properly. had some oxtar boots and they barely touched.those boots remy put on look good, and trust me daytona make some shit hot boots Quote
Ingah Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Have heard lots of good things about Alt-Bergs, particularly regarding how long they last and waterproofing. And as far as i know, they do proper motorcycle boots with all the ankle etc protection you'd expect too.To be honest, if you want to buy a pair of boots once and then not have to replace them, from what i've read they are your best bet.One of the main reasons i haven't got a pair myself yet is that South Wales and Richmond are too damn far apart! (i take it they don't do some sort of foot mould thing they can post out to you to get the custom fit? ) Quote
Boothy Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Cobbz go into a shops and try some on.*Goes back to his hole where he has been since he posted those pictures*Boothy Quote
