Guest Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 having the same problem with bolts, axels starting to rust. the areas need wd40 or some other spray on them to prevent further rusting. not sure if you can remove the rust though Quote
bullet5 Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Brass brushes, and soft metal wire, then apply lots of ACF50. Not a long term solution, but helps greatly. Oh! and swap those monkey metal bolts for some propper, good grade stainless. Quote
Stu Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 As said stainless bolts! Also don't use wd40 it chases grease off Quote
RicKsTa Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Stainless bolts and a regular clean & polish. ACF50 and you should be fine Quote
Ben Whitcher Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 I know how you feel WR125x, my husky SM is killing me the rain and constant salt on the road has eventually taking its time to rust my front exhaust pipe (underneath the bike) plus the stand and wheels spokes have slight rust on them. But as soon as summer comes and the hours of scrubbing the bike will eventually be back to normal. Quote

Guest Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 to prevent salt from rusting/corroding the bike frequent washes are good as it removes a lot of the crap from the bike. the only problem is water sits on the bolts and rusts them Quote
