Danny-B- Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 So i bought a new chain n sprocket kit from a company in dumfries (P N K parts ... or Pyramid parts )http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWNX:ITDecent buy i thought .. so today i went to a mates to get it put on (he has a garage and a chain removal thingi ...)Get the sprockets done .. get the chain on and wheel back on ... to find that the chain looks pretty damn slack and the adjusters were right back (allowing no future adjustment) ... cue puzzled look from my mate and then a question, "It is the right chain ?" .... so off we went to check tinterweb ....No its not the right friggin chain ... its 110 links (one he gave me) and the correct chain should be 108 links ...... Now .. we have put the new chain on and rivited the link ... but its not my fault so i plan a phone call tomorrow (if not monday) to tell them the error they made !Are they likely to be arsy, as weve not only opened the chain, but its on the chuffin bike ?i found the info for chain length HERE ----> Quote
bullet5 Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Take 2 links out Danny. Loving the simplicity However it seems you've been dealt a bad hand there danny Did the advert mention in anyway that the chain was 'x' links long? And if you've already riveted it on, then the chances of you getting a replacement are ratehr slim (in my mind) as the dealer would have to re-pay postage back, send out a new chain, and they'll more than likely have to bin the one you've just installed as it's now a 'used' kit. Good Luck anyhow. Bullet5. Quote
megawatt Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 The least they should do is send you a new rivet link!!! Quote
Danny-B- Posted March 19, 2011 Author Posted March 19, 2011 The least they should do is send you a new rivet link!!! If they can give me a rivet link i'll just take the two links out ... saves arsing about.Bullet ... seller is in my town so no postage Quote
Stu Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 You will probably find its a generic chain and sprocket set and you are supposed to check the chain length before fitting and make it the right length if need be It's pretty common for companies to supply a couple of links extra! Quote
