softwarez Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 I have balanced some wheels before, which went fine. I would find the heavy spot and place the correct amount of weight opposite it until the wheel would not turn in any position. However, I am now having an issue with a current wheel and tyre.. I find the heavy spot and place weights opposite, only to find that a new heavy spot is formed in a random place and adding or decreasing the weight does not fix this.. at some positions the wheel will hold still, while moving at others.. I just cant seem to figure out why?I probably haven't explained it amazingly, but hopefully someone may know what I mean and what the issue is and how to rectify it.Thanks. Quote
bullet5 Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 i'm not that knowledgeable on this, however i'd check that the spindle is well oiled/lubed with no traces of dirt, and that the tyre and rim themselves have nothing on/inside them. Dirt, mud, water & stones will all move/fall out when the tyre is turned, so make sure it's clean as a whistle before hand. Good Luck with your dilema.Bullet5. Quote
Hoover Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 never have bothered to have a bike wheel balanced, unless your using it on a track or have a really bad wheel, tyre put on in the wrong place you wont notice for normal road use. Quote
Guest Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 start from scratch ... if the new position keeps appearing in random spots, then it is possible that you didn't get the original weight in the exactly the right spotis the tyre fitted correctly? ie with the blob next to the valve? and beads seated correctly? No liquid in tyre from inflating it using dodgy compressors? Quote
