Stu Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Might just be a coincidence that its doing it at petrol stations but I think it could be fuel evaporation it happens when the engine is hot and you turn it off for a few minutes and when you try to start it the fuel is evaporated before it ignites Does it only do it when the bike is hot? DeeJ Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Tank breather may be blocked, causing a minor air lock which isn't letting the fuel to pass through at its normal rate Quote

oslin06 Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 I get that on mine it is evaporation in the carbs with the heat rising, I just give it a bit more throttle and it ok then, nothing to worry about.Keith Quote
Stu Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 you may find that sticking a little choke on MAY help you can only try it it it is fuel evaporation you wont have the right fuel to air ratio and sticking the choke on will restrict the air flow richening the mixture for starting it may work it may not choke on a warm bike doesnt always work give it a try nothing to loose Quote
BoB3rt Posted March 27, 2011 Author Posted March 27, 2011 not the side stand... and is never done it before but i would put my money onit being when i fuel up. at no other time does it do this!? even if turned of stood for a minute and start 'er up again, what makes it so odd.i understand the evaporating thing your saying but just by opening the tank and filling up shorly cant effect that! to be honest i am going to check the breather pipe, if you think about it it doesnt matter if the tank has been opened.once closed if no air can get in then it creates a vacum to slow/stop the petrol leaving the tank. am not sure if i have tried the choke on yet will give it a go if it happens again. the battery is fine and u can hear it all turning, just wont catch for a bit! looking like a fool in the station.... espcially when u ride in looking the sex in ya power ranger suit, everyone turning to have a look then.... haCheers! Stu Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 sorry but i cant see it been the breather pipe as you need a bit of a vacuum before fuel stops going through also your carbs will be full of fuel and will run off that first before cutting out try turning your fuel tap off and see how long the bike runs before stalling!! i could do about 2 - 3 miles on my zxr400 before ralising the fuel tap was off no harm in checking it though Quote
Lumor_uk Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Does filling the tank up to the very lip/ neck affect the tank breather hose? Quote
