tyler_durden Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Come on you lot, you all want to look a certain way. Why have you chosen your helmet, and I am talking about the look you consider after the fit and safety tests. If a helmet had 5 star safety and fitted perfectly, would you choose a plain one or one with graphics, and why? iiisecondcreep Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I don't have a preference either way. My helmet is a burnt orange caberg trip.I wanted a flip front, the caberg trip was very comfortable and scored well on the sharp tests. At the scottish bike show, I could pay £120 for a black or silver one, or £60 for a burnt orange one and I really like the orange colour, better than plain black or silver! The other one I looked at was the caberg V2R floral (because I liked the graphics), but they didn't have it in my size. Wasn't a flip front either.I saw a cool one at the bike show this year, might also have been a caberg, it was matt white with COWBOYS on it! AND the orange one goes well with my stick on tiger ears and tail http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y222/iiisecondcreep/Bikey/DSC00126Small.jpg Quote

Throttled Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 iiisecondcreep's helmet is just so cool, but it is not for me. I went for plain silver as a ride a lot in the dark and wanted to stand out more.I like gadgets, so top my list would be this Shark helemt with built in visor and the chin part swivles round so it can be used as a full face hemet. http://www.shark-helmets.com/images/products/modeles/HE9175EWKS/full/HE9175EWKS-1.JPG Quote
tyler_durden Posted April 4, 2011 Author Posted April 4, 2011 I just ordered one of thesehttp://www.smsmotorcycleclothing.co.uk/images/uploads/Helmets%20Box/BX2R-black.jpghttp://www.kurtkimotocyklowe.pl/aukcje/BOX_BX-2R_TARGET_BLACK_4.jpghttp://www.kurtkimotocyklowe.pl/aukcje/BOX_BX-2R_TARGET_BLACK_1.jpghttp://www.kurtkimotocyklowe.pl/aukcje/BOX_BX-2R_TARGET_BLACK_2.jpgI thought it looked pretty good, it scored 4 Stars, and would stand out reasonably well in the dark (it was also cheap!). What do you think? Quote
techno Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Have you tried one on?I never buy a helmet online I only buy one i have tried on.I had a box helmet once never again sorry it was the worst helmet ive owned. Quote

Throttled Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I like the wind in my face, but the idea of scraping it along the tarmac put me off getting one. The Shark looks a good compromise as I would only wear it open faced for around town, low speeds. Quote
techno Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Hey your choice as always, i got knocked off in town at 30 on my 125 hit the floor chin bar first Quote
tyler_durden Posted April 4, 2011 Author Posted April 4, 2011 Yes, of course I have tried one on. I have also seen favourable reviews for the Box, it is in the Top Ten under £100 on Motorcycle News.Hopefully your experience was not of this model. Quote
Stuno1 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I initially wanted a plain black lid but when I tried a few on I really didn't like the look.Ended up with the new style shark s900 in black and White. There is a massive amount of choice so just see what takes your fancy mate.Stu Quote

Guest Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 And i bought mine mainly as it fit well, but also like the design. Need another one, so going for a higher end one with awesome graphics or something . Quote
Guest philgale Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 my newest is this arai Haga Monza rep, bought it coz i liked the look of it and with it being a limited edition i thought it was very tarty http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/photogallerys/limited-edition-Arai-Haga-Replica-Helmet.jpgmy wet weather lid is a shoei paranoia, bought it coz i thought the scary faces would scare kids as i filter http://r6club.de/uploads/post-5252-1194959644_thumb.jpg Quote
Susieque Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Apart from the obvious fitting requirements, I chose mine cos I wanted something a bit feminine but not girlie pink etc... Quote
mikey69 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Got the IS-16 as it fitted, liked the idea of the built in sun glasses bit and was pin-lock ready. Got it red as I like red Quote
nman1 Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Slightly guilty of the look thing, but my last one I went for black and white to go with my one piece leathers. Personally I do like simple though, not too much pattern. And yes... I made damn sure it fitted well too. Quote
Guest Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I brought mine for the fit and the fact that you can inflate the cheeks to allow a better fit and comfort. Having a plain black lid previously i wanted something with a design on, but nothing girly! Quote
Ratser Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I currently have this...http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/6347/vipersinistergreyp.jpgBut I really want one of these ...http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/2002/slayerlid.jpg Quote
DeeJ Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I went for the highest visibility one I could. Arai Chaser Fluro Yellow. Quote
techno Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 My local dealer has a 20% off and part ex this weekend so am off to have a look and other than fit only requirements are not too expensive and internal dark visor am sick of carrying visors. Quote
queen bodecia Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Much the same as Susie and Ruth, I like girlie but not pink. Here's my new lid:http://www.shoei-europe.com/upload/mode ... tc-2_b.jpg Quote
