Suzuki GS 125 1986 model starting problems.

Hi all. I'm new here. Hope your all ok? I just bought a Suzuki GS 125 86 model and can't gert it started. Started fine when I bought it Saturday but yesterday it wouldn't start. It turns over fine but just won't fire up. I have noticed a strong smell of fuel when doing this and on the breather pipe (actually there is no pipe) fuel is leaking out. Does anyone know what this problem could be? Thanks in advance.

Have you checked to see if you have a spark?

Have you checked the float level?

It does sound more carb related to be honest, but you do need to eliminate whether there is a spark or not.

Hi thanks. I put new plug in and it's starts fine no problem BUT it's running very rich. Lots of black soot on plug. Air filter looked poor so sorted that but still sooting. Thanks.

sounds like the mixture on the carb neds adjusting unless the choke is stuck on

Choke is ok. Thinking maybe it could be a bigger jet put in at some stage?
