Radiator holed....

Noticed the other night some water seeping from my radiator on my Speed Four. A newey from Triumph £475....thank you very much sir!! Anyhoo....none on ebay. A couple of TT600 ones on there...but I think they are a bit different.

So...here's the question: has anyone on here had a rad repaired? Their experiences.....and recommendations?

Cheers,

Bob

There is a guy advertising on eBay who repairs rads and oil coolers...but I'd prefer to go on recommendations from the guys here if anyone has experience of a good repairer. Not saying that this guy is not good.....may contact him anyway and get a quote.

The leaks not bad enough to worry me yet.....just a bit of liquid slowly seeping out. So I'll keep an eye on the level.

Hoping it'll get me through the summer..

Cheers guys,

Bob

I've not inspected it too closely at the moment. Only noticed it the other night. It may solder or braze.....not sure what the rad core is made of.

K Seal It?....never heard of it before. You say it's good Mega.....that's a good enough recommendation for me..

I'm always worried about using Rad Seal and the likes as I've heard it can block the water channels and cause a bigger problem....but this K Seal It sounds like it could at least get me through until a suitable rad comes up....or I get my rad re-cored.

Many Thanks Guys...

Cheers mate, yes it,s great stuff. Contains copper and other filings. Repairs leaks without blocking up radiator. A lot thinner than Radweld or Bars leaks. Search on eBay, about 5 to 12 quid for a lot more than you need. My rad still good after 2 years.

My oh had a hole in the radiator of his Speed Four after a slow speed drop, he ended up getting it welded by a local guy for £15 (he is a business but its not his main job) and has had no problems since, the only reason you can even tell which bit has been welded is because there is a bit of paint missing.

Another place he tried quoted £60-70 for having it welded.

Hope you manage to get it sorted!

Good luck Bob. I mixed it all in a big bottle, with anti freeze and hot water . Gave it a really good shake , poured it in the rad cap of a hot engine and left it running for s long time, with fan cutting in at 105 degrees. If it leaks again, try it again before soldering/ welding, or try to reduce hole size. Don,t forget to bleed system to get rid of air locks. Good luck, Alan.

Well...I put half a bottle in the Expansion tank (after draining some water from the system) and ran the bike until the fan was cutting in/out.

Had a run to Southwold today (200-220 miles) and no sign of any liquid coming from the rad core....so fingers crossed..

Probably going to invest in a rad protector. Don't want to push my luck!!

Cheers guys,

Bob
