argentum40 Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 As you will know i have a CBR600 and when its warmed up the idle is very erratic, it smells like its running rich and also its a cow to start when hot....Now as i know nowt about 4 strokes any advice on setting carbs up so the mixture is right and also getting the other problems sorted will be muchly apprecaited Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 before you go messing with the carbs have you checked how clean the air filter is and is the choke cable moving freely Quote
argentum40 Posted September 13, 2011 Author Posted September 13, 2011 choke cable is good EAB and it has K+Ns on it Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 if its got seperate k&ns on it then it might of been upjetted in the carbs as well locate the mixture screws and turn them right in untill they just nip up then turn them all out 1 1/2 turns for basic settng Quote
argentum40 Posted September 13, 2011 Author Posted September 13, 2011 ok thanks fella... gotta work out how to get into em first lol... not used to faired bikes as never had one before Quote
Matt Strange Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 If you haven't already done so, I would check the ignition system out first. My last bike had a split in one of the the HT caps & was shorting out to the plug hole, causing a misfire on one cylinder & the revs to hunt slightly. Quote
Fozzie Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 My last and current CBR600F's do not like starting when they have a hot engine believe me!But the erratic revving at temperature is odd... When you say erratic how so?Could just need plugs as that cured the problem with the land ladies car recently Quote
