polecat
Got a bit worked up about my hard earned money paying Jonathan Ross's over inflated wages so wrote to the BBC telling them if they continue to employ him I will stop buying a licence to pay his wages.I was somewhat suprised by the reply I got and it went some way to make me feel better as they clearly have simalar thoughts about him that I do.May I add nobody has ever annoyed me enough to contact the BBC until Jonathan Ross came alongHere is the reply :Thanks for contacting the BBC.We understand you feel Jonathan Ross shouldn't be employed by the BBC.Jonathan Ross is no longer a BBC employee as such, and no longer presents his Friday night entertainment programme or his Radio 2 programme. He is however, contracted by the BBC for the presentation of the British Academy Film Awards, and has been for the last 5 years. Although he isn’t the face of BBC films anymore, he is a hugely knowledgeable expert on World Cinema which is quite a specialist subject matter. When it was announced that Jonathan was leaving, it was made clear that he would still present various projects including the British Academy Film Awards and projects like The World Cinema Awards. Please be assured we've registered your complaint on our audience log. This is a daily report of audience feedback that's circulated to many BBC staff, including members of the BBC Executive Board, channel controllers and other senior managers. The audience logs are seen as important documents that can help shape decisions about future programming and content. Thanks again for taking the time to contact us with your concerns.Kind RegardsRobert ReganBBC Complaints

Susieque
I don't mind Jonathan Ross either, I agree with Polecat - we have no choice but to pay for a TV licence, whether we choose to turn it off or not! I object to anyone being paid exorbitant wages for doing their job - media personalities, sportsmen/women, politicians, bankers etc etc. Ok, so some of them may have a short working life in their chosen career but they can always do an ordinary job just like we do when they can no longer play golf or whatever.I can choose to watch/not watch sport but I can't choose not to pay the licence fee!! hammer5
Yikes. I think he's funny & tbh done very well for his speech impediment considering the BBC's old English brigade.Didn't like the fact he cheated on his wife, afterall she built his career (IIRC).He's the only person to get A class interviewees on his show, excluding Paxman & the gay Irish bloke... No wages paid. Independent contractor, tendering in an open market. They ain't wasting my money on him, so they ain't wasting our money, they are wasting your bit in your opinion. They are wasting my bit, in my opinion, with all the antique, property, gardening, decorating and cooking shows. Downton Abbey, Eastenders, all the Football and Golf. I like the news, politics, science and history they provide and the occassional comedy show. It's a public service broadcasting company so there's bound to be programmes and people on it that don't suit all. With what's going on in the world at the moment I think your lobbying of the BBC to not employ a specific Light Entertainment contractor is an indication of what's important in your life. I stand by the comment "You need to get out more" in my opinion
giocast
Mr Ross is a rarity in that he got his well deserved come-upperance, i'm just waiting for the same to happen to Simon Cowell, Gordon Ramsay, Jeremy Clarkson, Peter Jones,
Roadtorque
A minster once said that the TV licence fee was well worth it's money because of BBC's imaginative & creative programs,, well that was then & this is now,, Iv'e seen better creations in my grandsons nappy & programs seem to have the imaginative creation of a gold fish,,,,,,,
NearOn
When is the TV Licence going to be scrapped? Is such a disgrace that is still going, id much prefer BBC had adverts if meant our money was not going to fat cats!
