megawatt Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Go on a Bandit Forum or oldskoolsuzuki Facebook page . They will know which one to buy, probably an Earls. Quote
Stu Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 My brother got a new one off ebay not suzuki though but it was about £70 and was spot on sorry not sure who made it though! Quote
Stu Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 this was it not sure if the 600 and 1200 are interchangeable though http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-GSF120 ... 43aef1404e Quote
Stu Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 so i did a little research for ya if you havent already Suzuki used this oil cooler on one bike and that was the bandit from 96 - 2003! http://www.ronayers.com/WhereUsed/N/993 ... 6600-26E00so this will fit http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-GSF-60 ... 1e74573cc7 Quote
Andy Smifff Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 Hi AgainThank you very much for all your replies and help. There is apparently another option. Ive been told by a bike mechanic that i could just delete the oil coolerand put blanking plates on removing the cooler and pipes. He says that in this country it dosnt get hot enough tomake much of a difference. Im a bit skeptical about this idea Alot of bikes nowadays have oil coolers and they must be there for a reason. so i know everyone who reads this will differ opinions BUT is it really that easy or will i F**k my engine.its not im a tight arse but i dont have much of a budget and an oil cooler for 110 quid is a gud chunk of my budget (excellent price tho)whereas deleting the cooler will cost me 30. could really do with some advicethanks so much again all Quote
Stu Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 personally I would keep it as its the only cooling you have on a bandit! Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 yep keep it they dont fit them for fun if the uk market didnt require them they wouldnt go to the expense of fitting them from the factory Quote
Mrbarry Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 A bike only has an eye full of oil unlike a car, it's going to get hot much quicker! If you monitor oil temps pre and post removal, or pressure (hot oil drops pressure drastically) I'd be happy to remove the cooler, ifNo negative effects are seen in summer riding conditions then you're golden! (Summer day, stop start traffic = worse case scenario) Quote
Boothy Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 I would not be removing the Oil cooler... its an oil cooled bike and even so they can get bloody hot in the summer. Quote
Andy Smifff Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 Once again all you guys have been amazing in the adviceand thank you so much. The final result is im buying a new oil cooler for approx 115 quidfrom MandP direct. already purchased oil lines so bike will be back on road mid week gota spend a bit more than anticipated but i think the bikes worth it and wots the point of owning a credit card and not using it. So once again thankyou all& im sure ill be back Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 you can stick around and join in all the topics on the forum we dont all bite Quote
Tango Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 I had the oil cooler go on my Trophy when I had it......I bought a secondhand one from eBay and when I got it I painted all the exposed bits with Black Hammerite and sprayed the core with ACF50 before fitting it.....that was nearly 7 years ago now and it's still going strong (Bonniebird's brother bought the bike off me so we still see it....)..
