priest Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 oh, can i be qualified for the packhorse bridge? o_O
Throttled Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Planning already . Nice Borders run, six tags, I can knock that off with an overnight in Clovenfords. There is a nice day run with the Cairngorm loop from my base in Dollar which will get four tags. There are five tags in the middle which can be day runs. Then a big north trip with eight tags, but it a biggy.I think this years Rannoch Station will be Ardnamurchan Lighthouse. It is way off the beaten track. It is my prediction as the one that stumps people getting a Scotland tag. There is a loop you can do to include the Glenfinnan Monumenthttp://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=Cor ... s&t=m&z=10It is hard single track, up and down riding and google's estimated time of 3 hours and 26 minutes would AFAIR is pushing it.

TC Posted January 7, 2013 Author Posted January 7, 2013 I think this years Rannoch Station will be Ardnamurchan Lighthouse. It is way off the beaten track. It is my prediction as the one that stumps people getting a Scotland tag. Theres always one that will mess up the prefect loop or weeks riding.Ranock moor was last years. Thanks for all your help and suggestions for this year Throttled. Hope you enjoy it as much as last year.
techno Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 So once again rideouts with you dave will be a pain in the arse
Grumpy Old Git Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 May I politely point out that you have made a spelling mistake? It is Fortheringhay not Fotheringham.Three routes planned so far.
Throttled Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Did the Rest and be Thankful today. I know you say memorial, but I could not see what you were talking about and there was a load of construction vehicles parked behind where I went to get a picture. It looks like they are working on the old road so they can use it when the main road closes for land slides. I have posted the photo but await confirmation before taking the points The old road, marked Glen Croe would be brilliant to ride, just like the pass to Applecross.
TC Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 Did the Rest and be Thankful today. I know you say memorial, but I could not see what you were talking about. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A83_roadThe second paragraph, mentions a stone that was laid by the soldiers and then replaced. ?????????http://i434.photobucket.com/albums/qq63/brazenf91/rabtstn_zps4df599fc.jpg
TC Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 I have posted the photo but await confirmation before taking the points. I can tell by the photo that it is The Rest and be thankful (Google maps are great) I'm not sure where the stone is at that junction. Take the Points Throttled. Its an excuse to get out and about on your bike, which is what its done.Well done mate
Throttled Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Thanks. I have never seen that memorial and I must have passed by and stopped there literally hundreds of times over the years. If it is still there I missed it. Maybe it was where the construction vehicles were parked up.
Grumpy Old Git Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Small stone - easy to miss.Well done for the first (of many).Routes all planned - Just need a bit of good weather now.Looks like some crackers there Dave!
TC Posted January 9, 2013 Author Posted January 9, 2013 I've found it Throttled Its in the bottom corner of the visitors car park (apart 20 yards from where your picture was taken.https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ll ... 1,,0,20.39
Throttled Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Lol, it is just out of sight across from the pine tree to the right in the photo I took. I was looking for it at the actual road junction. Nice run today, dry but the roads were filthy. The Falkirk battle monument took a bit of finding, it is at the end of Greenbank Rd near to the junction with Lochgreen Rd, Falkirk.
