With car driving, I can supervise while my wife drives on L plates in our car, can the same thing be done on a bike? Get my mate Rhys to pillion or ride behind with me on L plates?

You can only carry a pillion when you have your full license as far as I'm aware.......but you can ride a 125 with L-plates on your own unsupervised once you have passed your CBT.....

You cannot have a pillion with L Plates, so that option is out. You can ride a 125cc on L Plates on your own after CBT and on the provisional licence. There is nothing to stop you from setting up a coms system whereby you are in radio contact with another rider, so your mate could follow you around whilst you chat. If you are going to be riding a bigger big with the Direct Access Scheme you have to be in radio contact with a qualified instructor.
