mr1 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Right guys need a quick answer if poss ,manual says plug gap should be 0.7/0.8 ,is that 7 or 8 on a feeler gauge :-S Quote
Tango Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I would have thought that the feeler guages would have 0.7 or 0.8 on them....but it's probably unlikely that you'll get feeler guages that are 7 or 8mm thick......so if they've only got 7 or 8 on them I'd say it's a fairly safe bet that they're the right ones...... mr1 Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 cheers mate, seems like my gaps are way to wide,I thought it was that but as gaps are that wide I thought I better consult the Oracle, lol Quote
Tango Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Are these new plugs or old ones? If they are old ones it could be that the central electrode has burnt down a bit.....effectively opening the gap...... Quote
mr1 Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 fairly new,I had a whole heap of misfire probs,so I replaced coils plugs plug caps, and it was no better,so someone suggested draining gloat bowls and it cured it,but now it somtimes struggles to start, that's why in checking the gaps Quote
megawatt Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Plug gaps are normally around 25/30 thou Imperial or 0.6/0.8mm Metric. Check whether your feeler gauge is metric or imperial, probably metric. Quote
fredc Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Are your feeler gauges metric or imperialEdit Too slow Quote
mr1 Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 set plugs to the number 8 gauge, bike started fine but usually does on first start up,the problem is that I ride to work in the morning and when I finish work it seems to crank over for ages so I have to release starter button 3 or 4 times till finally it starts, couldn't be arsed to take it out today tho will see what happens when I use it on Tuesday as I got a day off tomorrow, yay Quote
Stu Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 question Is the bike kept on a charger over night? and how far is work? Quote
mr1 Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 No mate not kept on a charger and works only about five miles, but I do try to get out on it every day and do 20/30 miles, just this weather is a joke Quote
Stu Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Was thinking if its kept on charge then only rode a small distance it could have been a weak battery Quote
