Replaced my chain and sprockets last week on my 2001 ZZR600, the chain is a new DID GOLD X-ring and came in a kit with the new sprockets. I'm pretty sure I fitted them correctly tightened everything correctly and spent quite some time getting the chain tension adjustment bang on to the Haynes recomendation of 35-40mm.

I've probably done less than 50 mile and that's mostly commuting not spirited riding and my chain has slackened off, not too bad, its about 50-55mm now.

This is the first time I've replaced a chain on a bike and would of thought a new chain might slacken off slightly with it being new and settling in so to speak, but am I right? Is this usually the case or could there be something else amiss? I did have to adjust the tension of the old chain quite often but I put this down to it being old and in need of replacement.

Thanks for that. I thought maybe this would be the case.

Mine was the same, it stretched a bit after 100 miles and now its about ready to be adjusted again at nearly 1500 miles use.

They tend to scretch more when they're new and when they're knackered.
