Was just down by dyfatty flats in swansea. An ambulance was trying to get past but the driver of the bus I was on wouldnt budge and instead just waited for the lights to turn green.

It was safe enough for the bus to pull out a touch and allow the ambulance to go through. Was just wondering if the bus driver was in the wrong there or not?

you are only obliged to move out the way 'if' it is safe to do so. going thru a red light could be deemed dangerous and the bus probably has camera's on it for which the driver could get into trouble with his bosses for going over a red light. it is curtesy that makes people go through red lights nothing else.

You can go through a red light if you have reasonable excuse (such as letting an emergency vehicle through) and it is safe to do so. However, with cameras now taking over from real policemen and and operating on a shoot first and issue a fixed penalty then putting the onus on the driver to prove his or her innocence the bus driver probably thought it wasn't worth the aggro.

There are the only reasons

1. If you are directed to by a police officer

2. If you are part of a funeral procession

3. If you are part of a parade
