Nob of the Day.......

Witness to the third accident I've seen in the space of 6 months...

First was a nob on a push bike running down a pedestrian at a crossing.

Second was a pair of nobs in a stolen car, teenage druggies who raced out of a junction and a car smashed into them, and then bounced off and head on into a car with a dad and his two kids in the car.

And now today, an old Clio driven by a young guy raced up to a roundabout I was already on. Literally only saw him for a split second, and pulls out on me. I hit the brakes and miss him. But the absolute muppet was looking to his right as he approached the roundabout, so only saw me, and not the brand new, bright yellow Merc in front of me. And he smashed right into the back left side of it. Then tried to suggest the Merc had made a sudden change of direction. What. A. Twat.

It's meant to be June! Feels more like January.

I'm currently in Cornwall for 5 days it's pretty dismal weather here too 😩

Oh dear …. In other news: it looks like it’s gonna brighten up for when I go down there on Monday 😁

If you’re anywhere near Newquay Airport there’s a Bike night at the Bearded Brewery on a Tuesday night starting from 18:00 👍

Me.

Was working on my car on the drive so took the keys out and put them in the garage.

Finished what I was doing and wanted to go out in the car so shut and locked the garage door.

Got in the house and suddenly realised I'd locked both sets of keys with a garage key inside the garage, tw@t.

Luckily I hadn't locked the top shed which houses my disc cutter, however all my extension leads are... yep in the garage.

Fortunately Mrs B has a selection of short extension leads under the stairs so linked 4 of these across the garden.

About 10 seconds with the disc cutter and job done.

On the hunt now for a better padlock.

Stuff like this wakes you up to how easy it is to break in!

You need a thick steel cover for the lock and not rely on lock alone.

Indeed, it was incredibly easy with the right tools.

Don't think there is much that can resist a disc cutter.

The garage is in the back garden so out of sight from the road but still need to review the security.

Sadly if a professional thief wants your bike/car they will use every means possible.

The garage door is only wooden so wouldn't be much use as a base for a steel box, the whole lot would need replacing.

Good hinges and bolt some steel to it, if your on about a normal hinged door.

I think I'll nominate myself and not for the first time . I thought I'd squirt a little WD40 into the throttle housing of my new Harley just to see if it freed up the throttle action a bit , which it did . So off for a lovely ride in the countryside and I spot a bloke pushing a 125 . I indicated left and stopped to help but he just ignored me so I indicated right to carry on my way . Ah , my hazard flashers are on , don't remember doing that . Click both buttons* and nothing happens , shit . So I had to ride home again like a bloody press bike in the Tour de France causing all kinds of confusion among the car people . Unfortunately I also rang Mr Frog who was having his dinner , sorry Ian , to find out where the fuses live . Anyway , although the WD40 might have been the cause , I don't know what the cure is yet because once I had the side panel off the thing stopped flashing . Oh well at least I know where the bike's brain lives . It's like a medium tablet in its own little tray , very tidy .       * Don't ask .

Its an up and over door and fairly lightweight, just researching electric roller doors🧐

Best thing I ever did was get an electric roller door

Just make sure you get a steel on and not aluminium

Try companies that specialise in shop shutters! They are miles cheaper more secure and can get them powder coated in a lot of colours

This is mine

800 quid fitted! I couldn't argue with that

The main door is my only access into the garage, in the unlikely event of power failure or something went wrong with the motor, is there any way to get around that if you are locked out?

You could fit it so all the motor is on the outside with a manual override behind a cover etc

There is ways around all that but would cost a bit more and it would still be secure too

Back on topic.

Last week on my way home on the R1, riding thru Daventry went over a roundabout and a bike with loud pipe went the other way.

Carried around the next roundabout following a couple of slow vehicles, I hear a bike coming up behind me. The bike I saw, not sure what it was, maybe 600cc jap something, had turned around and is now behind me. Does no more than guns it up beside me and lines up with me and give me a nod. We carry on around the next couple of roundabouts and he is still dropping back the accelerating up to me. Exit the last roundabout of of town and accelerate past a couple of cars up to about 70mph and hold it there, next minute my shadow comes b@llocking past me probably doing near 3 figures and goes for a pass on two more cars in the distance, in his haste to get by almost has a head on with a truck coming the other way.

I carry on into the next village and matey had turned around and headed back to Dav giving me another nod as we pass.

Someone in my scheduling department, who constantly hide behind "policy".

When someone quotes policy at you, then reiterates it starting X policy section 3.6.1

Go and read the policy they might have actually read it. Presently awaiting response so tomorrow NOTD might be me.

I would have headed straight to the police station or a public place with plenty of cameras .

Fair enough , but if the bike in question has a pillion you need to get out of there fast . Bike jacking is real and you don't want to stick around to find out .
