kawasaki zr7 fuel gauge

i brought a kawasaki zr7 yesterday,everything is fine except the fuel gauge is not working,although not a major problem but i would like to try to get it working,so is there anything i should look for and where,any help would be much appreciated

1st thing to check is the wires and plug under the tank you will need to remove seat and tank and check plug coming away from gauge and see if its pluged into corrosponding plug in the loom or if the wire has been trapped and has been broken due to being trapped
