Integral luggage for Suzuki GSF1250 Bandit

Hello guys,

I often travel with my bike and I got annoyed with having 2 or 3 separate luggage cases. I’m a mechanical engineer by profession and I decided to build my own integral luggage.

Now I would like to show you what I have built for my Suzuki GSF1250 Bandit motorcycle and ask for your opinion about it.

I built an integral luggage as a part of the motorcycle, back and side luggages are joined into one and I matched the design with the motorcycle.

I colored it in the original color of the motorcycle and I made it so that it fits to motorcycle using either the original exhaust system or an Akrapovič after-market exhaust which I’m currently using.

The luggage also has a back rest and two handles on side luggage. I made back luggage big enough to fit two helmets.

There are covers on the back for accessing back luggage and on the sides for accessing the side compartments. Upper part between handle and the seat contains a compartment for keeping most frequently needed items like wallet, documents, eyeglasses etc.

I made luggage and covers of polyester with steel reinforcements and connected it to the frame of the motorcycle via side handles.

Rear lamp and direction indicators had to be relocated to the integral luggage, but I was able to keep the rear registration plate with illumination and rear reflector in their original positions.

Just to be legally covered and avoid any issues, I and the item I described above are in no way affiliated with the Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan, which manufactures the GSF 1250 Bandit® motorcycle or Akrapovič d.d., Slovenia, which manufactures Akrapovič® after-market exhausts. I reserve all the rights of the presented item.

Kind regards,

Janez Cvahte

Well bloody done! I am very impressed, however would not do this myself - I find my toss box is ugly enough, takes away from the sleekness of the bike. I like it in gloss and that it looks like it has a face on the back! I reckon it'd look a lot better without the seat bit and handles tho  . Only based on what I like though - it works for you and looks like you've done an awesome job of it and that's all that matters 8-)

got to say from an engineering point of view it looks amazing. very well made and superbly finished off.

however, not my cup of tea, just doesn't seem to look right with the bike. i almost bought a GSF1250 and liked the Suzuki luggage that was fitted.

but still well done.

Very well thought out and such a great finish, how many lts would you say it hold's in total ? How does it hook on/off and how awkward or not is it to carry or is it based on bags to lift and carry once you get to where your going. Lot's of questions I know but with the same frame as your's you can imagine my interest, my wife and I manage with the top box, panniers and tank bag which even though the panniers are only 21 lts we do manage to cram quite a lot in.

All the best

Hi again, thanks for all your comments, I prepared replies below.

Thanks! Sadly a motorcycle fitted with luggage is by law required to have handles.

Brilliant - what a great idea and super craftsmanship!

Thank you very much.

Thanks :) I guess how one sees it on this bike is a matter of an opinion.

Any ideas on which bike it would look better?

Likey likey, you taking orders?

That depends, if there will be enough people interested, I will consider.

The integral luggage is fixed, not meant to be hooked on/off. You take out of the luggage what you need through the three covers. In addition, there are two smaller covers near the handles toward the seat for smaller items like glasses, wallet, cigarettes …

The volume of all compartments together is around 80 liters (2.8 cubic feet).

The hubby read my reply to this and said it sounds a bit mean - sorry if it comes across that way! I just meant it's very well made and practical for you, works with the bike but just not my cup of tea haha!

It has to have handles?! How weird!
