Ground anchor

Recommended Posts

Let's try this again in the right section :D

Had a look in the "Other" on tried and tested but not much luck.

Anyone use a ground anchor they can recomend? Just want a fairly cheap one as it's going to be hidden from view behind a caravan it's just if i plan to not use it for a while i'd rather lock it away. so £20 at most i would say. have looked online and found things such as http://www.screwfix.com/p/bolt-down-ground-anchor/96493 but just wondering if there is any better ones out there

The way the weather shaping up at the moment Mate, we will all need an anchor. On a serious note, any will work there a deterrent to all but the pro's, if the pro's come calling they will take it no matter what you fit.

Had a mate who just got a bit of a steel loop that was scrap from an old crane and dropped a load of fast set concrete round it! I went expensive(ish) and got some Oxford heavy duty thing but as said above I don't think it'd do much to stop a professional.

Nothing will.. they wont be cutting the ground anchor, they will be cutting the chain with a big pair of bolt cutters.

However if you have a chain thats too thick to fit in the normal size bolt cutters that might slow them down... My idea was to cover the chain in 2inch thick plastic coating that will make it too wide to fit in the jaws of most bolt cutters.... just a thought...

Edit: typo

I considered a ground anchor... for about 2 minutes. Then realised it requires effort to instal, and more effort to use.

So I rely totally on the factory fitted security (steering lock and ignition switch) and an insurance policy that covers theft

I got mine from B&Q when I still worked there so I got 20% off I think it's £16 odd I'll find a link,

It's only £13 odd. Comes with two expanding bolts that have an Allen key head on them so when you've tightened them up you can put a small metal ball in the top to stop thieves just undoing them. The balls are included and are pretty much impossible to remove! Seems good quality it's more of a visual deterrent for me rather than physical, I'd recommend it though.
