Last year I went to Ron Haslams race school and enjoyed it that much I want to start racing, road or track. I have no idea how to go about it though. I am based in central Scotland and looking for advice on how to go about it. Any help would be great.

Always handy if there's a local track? The further away , the more the transport costs. You could hire a bike to start with, but trackbikes aren't too expensive. Find a reliable 400 or 600 , preferably with spare wheels for wet tyres. Ideally find someone that has just packed in and wants to sell everything. You will need a vehicle. Van is best , but loads have a car, towbar and trailer. Buy economical ,reliable, not fast. If you have paid £200 for a trackday, you want to make sure you get there. Similarly an reliable, safe trackbike is more important than a fast one. Good luck.

I know what you mean, it can be quite addictive!

I am considering parting company with my track bike (ZXR750) with spare wheels, spare tank and trailer... :-)

have you done any track riding yet?

If not then forget racing the gap between the fast group in trackdays and racing is rather large!!

get a track bike and do loads of track time before having a go at racing

I go to a lot of club meetings as a mate of mine races
