maccy
So I have decided to get a camera, considered it before but thought it was too much hassle. Times have changed and I realise now after myself and a family member was in a car accident, unless you are have concrete evidence about what happened to cause that accident, you havent got a chance in dealing with insurance/ court. That coupled along with a few near misses myself, which could quite easily have been a nasty crash has swayed me.I just want a no hassle camera, I use the bike everyday as my only transport, im on and off the bike multiple times so dont want to be messing around with it.Just looking for something that does the following.- Mounted to the handle bars- Plugs into some sort of dock which secures and charges it.- Automatically deletes or writes over footage after a certain amount of time.- is waterproof- good quality video and sound but doesnt have to be the best out there.Probably asking for a lot but the main features would be the last 3. mealexme
short answer: yeslong answer:you can get cameras mounted to the bike, drilled into the fairings (if you can find a place to put it) and hardwired/mounted onto the bike which records to a removable disk. This can be set up to come on when you turn the ignition on and turn off when the bike is off. There are car cameras which record all the time, but only save the data if it senses a joltThere are also cameras which always record, but only save data if you press a button. They will save the 10 seconds before the button is pressed (this time is probably changeable though) but don't turn on with the ignition. CGD217
I've got a drift HD Ghost. You can hardwire it to the bike, there are different mount sets, so it could be bar mounted, helmet mounted, suction cup etc.The video on it is excellent, apart from night is a little poor however the Ghost S improves on this.It has a DVR mode, so you can set it to switch on when you turn the bike on and you can set what it records etc.Brilliant piece of kit and i don't go out without mine, even if i'm popping to the shop. maccy
Cheers guys. They're the sort of things I was looking for, you press one button, or as soon as it goes on the bike it starts up, then you dont have to do anything with it ever again until you need to check the footage. Yep, I know what you mean. I keep intending to hard wire a pair of cameras into my bike. Power on when the bike starts, record on a loop, power off when the bike stops. One camera facing forward and the other facing backwards. Now I have an old helmet cam to try this with, I just need to find a way to wire the power cable in permanently and waterproof. Glorian
I would probably attach a camera to my helmet instead, one so you don't leave it on the bike at any point. Two it shows where you're looking (eg if you "Pulled out" on someone you can show you looked first and it was clear). Three better angles. I'd get a drift HD ghost as you can carry a spare battery and swop it around if it runs out saves hard wiring to the bike. Or a contour +2 (more expensive) same features, both have easy to use with simple buttons etc.

If it could connect to my home WiFi and upload the footage to my NAS drive when i get home that would be awesome. No faffing about with memory cards or USB cables.. Also I want it so I can plug a wire in to charge/ run off the battery, cutting down on fuss by having to charge it at home.
