how much slack do you have? could you break the chain at that point and remove the link?

EDIT: you certainly need some lube on there!!

Aye I only noticed it because my automatic oiler was a bit broke and I was fixing it all up.

Might be able to remove the link though, are they easy to reconnect?

So a friend of mine who has looked at it says it's because when I had my tyres changed last week the bloke seriously over tightened the chain :|. He slackened it all off for me and says I should be ok on it now though, I thought it would be at risk of breaking where parts of the O ring on one link have completely broken off?

I've decided to just bite the bullet and ordered a new DID x ring chain/sprockets kit. Ordered a -1 tooth front sprocket as well . Turned out to be marginally cheaper to buy the kit and then the front sprocket instead of all the parts separately :?.

Good man. Have you got a chain breaker/rivetter? Do you know how to use it?

I don't have one, I was thinking of buying the stuff and then doing it myself but the local garage said they would do it for £50. So I decided since I'm not very experienced and it could be quite dangerous if I do it wrong I'll leave it to them . I'll definitely be checking the chain tension before I leave this time though...

I've got a spare breaker/riveter kit that I've used once that you can have for £30+postage. Mentioned it on another thread as well but no takers. It's an easy job, you just have to take your time.

£50 doesn't sound bad to be fair though.

Nah the speedo isn't driven off the front wheel, I was wondering if the sprocket would affect my speedo actually. It's digital if that makes a difference?

Thanks for the offer bud but I'm not really too confident in messing with things like the chain for the first time without someone at least watching what I'm doing to make sure I don't cock up somewhere .

If the speedo isn't driven off the front wheel, it may be driven off a gearbox sensor. Changing the gearing may affect your speedo reading. It's a good mod to lower the gearing, but you may need to buy a speedo healer or just remember the difference at different speeds in different gears.
