Given that your idea of 'sweet' is probably something like coke, then it may be hard to judge. You would have to drink other pee to compare really.

Seriously, see you GP or practice nurse. Diagnosis via a bike forum and drinking your own urine may have its disadvantages. Sounds like a top end overhaul to me mate

See a GP.

Some years back I thought I had diabetes because I pee all the time, several times in the night, I can't go more than a couple of hours without needing to pee. I've been like that ever since I can remember - I was always the kid on the school bus who needed to stop for a pee.

The tests all came back negative but it turns out I have an incredibly short "transit time" (time between food/drink entering mouth and coming out the other end). The Dr said, "some people are just like that".

Like others have said, get yourself checked out. You mightn't necessarily be diabetic, but could be on the way to being. My dad was diagnosed as 'at risk' when he went to see his GP. The GP gave him some tips on what he had to do to avoid becoming diagnosed as type 2 diabetic (diet and exercise). I'm dead proud of him because he essentially thought "sod that am I being diabetic if I can do something about it!" so cleaned up his diet, and now walks between 3-5 miles five days a week. He never used to walk ANYWHERE, and didn't relish the thought of the walks to start with. Now he says he couldn't be without them, just feel weird if a couple of days go by without his walk. I said he should get a dog but he wont. That's another story! He's lost 3 stone (wasn't massively overweight to begin with, but could have done with losing a bit) and looks amazing compared to a couple of years ago. He used to pee a lot and was quite sluggish. Last time I was home he couldn't wait to show me his new bathroom and literally ran up the stairs (he's 70 and two years ago probably wouldn't have got to the phone in the room next door in time when it started ringing). Worth mentioning you don't have to be overweight to be diabetic. Tom Hanks for example is type 2.

Conversely, I know someone else who was told the same news as my dad (at risk) at the same time and immediately fell into a period of dread. "Oh no, I'm going to be diabetic, oh dear what's the point in diet and exercise I might as well just take these pills they've given me and forget about it". Ultimately he is now diabetic, and once you're diagnosed as diabetic, you will always be.

All comes down to what's in your head. So go to your doctor and get checked. You've noticed that something's not right with you anyway so can't hurt to go. They might say "nope you're absolutely fine" in which case you can relax. Or they might say "glad you've come, here's some advice".

Not 100% true. Transplants are available to those with extreme cases of both type one and type two on the NHS, however, living with someone who has type one and has been through the process, I can tell you that transplants come with their own complications and medications to take for the rest of your life, and sometimes the transplants don't go as planned, especially if you live in Plymouth and the aftercare is so bad that you have to tell the Dr's you have internal bleeding, go with proof and they still dismiss it...

Basically, you won't necessarily have it for the rest of your life, but its a LOT better to get it checked out now and get it diagnosed one way or the other

I am a doctor. Constant thirst and peeing a lot could well be diabetes. Go see your GP to get blood test to find out.

They will ask you to come back for a fasting blood test. If you want to save yourself an extra trip to GP, don't eat after 10pm or so the day before you go (no brews or coke either, just water). That way, when they tell you you need to fast and come back, you can tell them you already have and chances are they'll get nurse to take blood sample there and then.

So I've probably got type 1.

According to the specialist I should be in hospital in a bed really ill with the blood results.

She's not sure how I'm getting up in the morning and going to work.

So I'm stabbing myself in the arse with insulin.

She said I can eat/drink what I like but I recon il give up the chocolate and coke.

i feel for you guys with diabetes and the like...

i recently cut my leg deeply wrestling a shed (dont ask) and ended up with 12 stitches and it taking 12 weeks to heal. doctor made me have blood tests convinced i had diabetes... ( mainly because i a lardy bast*rd) and too my surprise and His ... im fine.

life is about moderation.... i see you drink between 2-4 ltrs of coke a night.... caffeine is a diaretic (think that how its spelt) which means it tries to expelled water from your body ( making you pee more ) without replacing it like drinking water. which can leave you being thirsty, tired and headachy. i would say for every litre of coke you drink you need to replenish fluids with 3 litres of water.

coffee is ok if you have it weak, but tea is better. but generally people dont drink enough.

plus getting up in the night for a pee is the sign of getting old... just get some adult nappies and have been done with it.... handy if its cold out from under the duvet and you can just shit your pants rather than get cold.....

Getting up to pee during the night can be an age related thing......but it can also signal Prostate problems......do not ignore the signs, get checked out by the doctor as soon as possible.......Prostate Cancer is controllable if it's caught early enough.....

I'm glad you finally got sorted cockercas.......ignoring it for much longer really wouldn't have done you any good....

Im going to have a word with them about stopping the insulin for a couple of days when my blood glucose is normal.

There not sure if im type 1.

The blood and pee test suggest i am. But the specialist cant figure out why im not seriously ill. Neither can anyone else who has/knows someone with diabites.

Ive worked out how much sugervi consume a day.

70g a day is the gda i think and ive been eating 500g.

Probaly for the last 10years.

So mabey my insulin producing cells arnt destroyed, but cant work fast enough.

My blood is down to 9 before food and ketones are now 0.1.

Ive had pretty much no suger today.
