I wear 'thermals' virtually all year round.. the type that keep you cool in summer and warm in winter. the main benefit in winter is I need fewer layers. Still a bit of time to go before the long johns come out of the airing cupboard.. that happens when the thermometer reads 0c and the bike has a white seat in the mornings... I'll probably start to wax lyrical about the benefits of a heated seat at that point.

Some suggestions if people find their gear too cold!

Hein Gericke maybe out of business but you can still pick up some jackets on ebay and similar. I found their winter kit the best I'd ever owned. I still have the jacket now and it will be used once I'm back on two wheels.

It eliminated the need for added thermals, I just rode in my work shirt, and a light jumper! All that was needed in last years wet and dreary winter.

Alpinestars Drystar Express trousers = Boss level warmth and dryness no matter how shite the weather :-D . I have an aversion to long johns after having to wear horrible super itchy army ones years ago, now even just seeing a pair makes my balls itch.
