Uneven idle...

Recommended Posts

So when it's cold it idles like it's cold... around 1000, sometimes dipping. Take it for I dunno 15 miles to get it warmed up and it starts to idle really weird.. maintains 1500 with intermittent yet very regular jumps to 2000.

To be fair it has no impact on me as I only notice when parking up.. can't help thinking though something is going to end up costing me time money or both.

easy way to check carb rubbers is with engine ticking over spray some wd40 or carb cleaner around the inlet rubbers if the revs increase a fair amount chances are you will need to replace them, visual check is just have close up look for cracking or/and splitting of the rubber inlets

That I don't know. Not something I'll be able to find out for a little while. I did totally deplete it when I was working on it a few weeks back.... placed something metal on to contacts with out thinking or indeed noticing. By the time I went to start it, it didn't even have enough juice to turn over. Just clicked. Then I jumped it with a car and it's worked ever since.
