cockercas
I'm thinking of getting a mini ipad for work. Looked online and there's conflicting advice on if it's claim able against tax. I only want it for work, no data as I want it for notes/pics/diary/showing customers what things are. Google was no help.I know there's some business types on here. Tax deductible or not? Jnestie
Yes it can be used against tax but grey area wether it is a capital allowance or an expense. That's what my wife says anyway.
cockercas
Mmm that's what google says, that hmrc are behind with technology and don't have guidelines for tablets.
Joeman
Buy it and put it through the books. The likelihood of a tax investigation is slim and worst case they make you pay the difference.

I bought an iPad through my business with every intention of using it for work, but then the kids got hold of it. If HMRC ever checked what was on it they'd have to conclude that my business involves playing Greedy Mouse, Hungry Spiders and Lego Star Wars. Pete
Hmm. I was planning on getting an iPhone when the new one comes out in September and putting it through the ltd as an expense. I wouldn't be fiddling or bending the rules as it will be for business. Will just put it through as a business asset, I guess the same could be done with an iPad. I design websites and apps for my business so will be using the iPhone (and iPad if I need a new one, iPad 2 is dying!) for testing purposes. The golden rule is if it's going to be used 100% for business use then it's fine. If not then it's percentage of use. Doesn't work with cars (or bikes) though sadly unless they're leased.
